THE ANIMATED ONES WITH MOTION CAME OUT AS JUST A BLUR.  HOPEFULLY YOU WILL ENJOY THESE. HOPE YOU ENJOYED YOUR RIDE THRU!  MARTHA

QUILTY PRESENT!

Image
I RECEIVED A QUILTY PRESENT ,TOTALLY UNEXPECTED FROM MY  DEAR HUBBY.  WHEN WE WENT TO ST. CLOUD AT THE QUILT STORE I SAW QUILT STANDS.  APPARENTLY SO DID HE.  THERE WERE ROUND ONES AND OVAL ONES.  WELL WHEN HE CAME HOME HE MADE ME A ROUND ONE OUT OF OAK. I PUT A TWIN SIZE BATIK QUILT IN IT.  A MUCH LARGER QUILT WILL FIT IN IT. I LIKED  THE WAY THE BOTTOM OF THE STAND WAS MADE TOO!  A LITTLE SIMPLE BUT VERY ARTISTIC.  NOW TO CONVINCE HIM I NEED ANOTHER FOR AT LEAST ONE BEDROOM MAYBE TWO? all for now sew a little later.  martha

FINALLY FINISHED!!

Image
I PLAYED AROUND WITH DIFFERENT SIDE FINISHES AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE SAMPLES I MADE.  I THEN  DECIDED TO ADD A FLANGE ACCENT TO THE FAR RIGHT SAMPLE . SO I HAVE A TOTAL OF THREE FABRICS MAKING MY BORDERS.  WHICH ADDS A TOTAL OF TWELVE AND 1/2 INCHES TO EACH SIDE.  IT IS DEFINITELY LONG ENOUGH TO GO OVER THE PILLOWS  ,     SO THAT I DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE SHAMS.  NOW TO FINISH  THE BACK!  IT IS A KING SIZE QUILT.   WILL TAKE TO QUILTER'S LATER THIS WEEK.  GLAD TO BE DONE AND START FRESH WITH SOMETHING NEW FOR THE NEW YEAR.   I WOULD PREFER SOMETHING SMALL.  THERE IS A NEW FREE MYSTERY  THAT LASTS ONLY TWELVE DAYS AND IS ALREADY IN ITS SECOND DAY IF ANY ONE IS INTERESTED!! http://temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com IT IS THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS MYSTERY QUILT.  ENJOY WHAT YOU DO !         MARTHA

TESTING, 1, 2, 3!

Image
FINISHED BLOCK #51 NEW YORK FROM BARBARA BRACKMAN'S CIVIL WAR. THEN THIS MORNING A LITTLE BIT OF THE WHITE STUFF ACTUALLY FELL.  JUST A LITTLE BIT OF DUSTING; WE WILL SEE IF IT LASTS. THEN I DECIDED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND THAT I HAD NOT DONE BEFORE.  I HAVE DEFINITELY DECIDED TO USE TWO DIFFERENT FABRICS FOR MY BORDER.  HOWEVER I WAS THINKING OF MAKING SOME SCALLOPS IN MY BORDER .  SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY A METHOD I HAD READ ABOUT.  IT MAKES VERY SMALL SCALLOPS. FIRST TAKE TWO DIFFERENT FABRICS AND SEW THEM TOGETHER USING 1/4 SEAM ALLOWANCE.  THESE PIECES ARE FOUR INCH WIDE AND TWO INCH WIDE.  PRESS SEAM WELL TO ONE SIDE.  I  WOULD USE A MATCHING THREAD TO DO THIS ,HOWEVER I WANT YOU TO BE ABLE TO SEE THIS SO I AM USING A CONTRASTING THREAD.   TAKE A DISSAPPEARING MARKER TO MARK  ONE INCH FROM SEAM LINE. AND PRESS AND FOLD THE LARGER PIECE OF MATERIAL TO THAT LINE. I PUT A PIN EVERY FOUR INCHES ALONG FOLD LINE TO MARK WHERE I WANTED TO TACK DOWN  FOLDED LARGER FABR

AN ADVENTURE

Image
MY HUSBAND AND I WENT ON A LITTLE ADVENTURE TODAY.  WE BOTH HAD THE DAY OFF WORK AND DECIDED TO GO SPEND THE DAY IN ST. CLOUD.  IT IS ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY AND WE HAVE ONLY DRIVEN AROUND IT NEVER THRU IT.  WE HAD A VERY GOOD TIME. I PICKED OUT ONE SHOP I WANTED TO GO TO.  HE PICKED OUT THREE  AND FOUND ANOTHER ONCE WE ARRIVED.  WE ALSO HAD LUNCH AT RED LOBSTER. MY HUSBAND LOVES BOTH FISH AND SEAFOOD.  ESPECIALLY AROUND CHRISTMAS!  SO I GUESS YOU KNOW BY NOW MY SHOP WAS A QUILT SHOP; AND IT WAS FANTASTIC! I PURCHASED A 1/4 YD. OF STAR FABRIC SO THAT I CAN MAKE BLOCK #51,NEW YORK OF BARBARA BRACKMAN'S  BLOCK OF THE WEEK.  THREE REDS ,ONE BLUE AND ONE BLACK CIVIL WAR PRINTS. I PICKED OUT THESE PATTERNS WHICH SUPPOSED TO BE HAND PIECED AND/OR HAND APPLIQUED.  GRANDMA SHIRLEY WAS THERE , I MET HER ,  AND I GOT TO TALK WITH HER. I FOUND HER QUITE INTERESTING.  I HAVE MET THE LADY WHO DID THIS PATTERN AT THE MINNEAPOLIS QUILT SHOW.  I HAVE DONE SOME OF HER EMBROIDERY AND CRAYOLA FAB

ROUNDING THE LAST LAP

I HAVE MY BARBARA BRACKMAN COMING TO  AND END ;  AS FAR AS THE TOP. I HAVE THE TOP IN THREE LARGE PIECES , WITH ONE ROW OF SASHING AND CORNERSTONE BLOCKS TO DO BEFORE PUTTING THE TOP COMPLETELY TOGETHER. I WANT TO GIVE YOU A FEW PICS TO LOOK AT. I WENT TODAY TO GET MY LARGE BORDER PRINT WHICH I WILL PLACE AROUND A SMALLER BORDER. I HAVE DECIDED ON A BROWN PRINT FOR THIS. ON THE BACK I INTEND TO PIECE TOGETHER ANY BLOCKS FROM THE FRONT I DID NOT USE , MANY DIFFERENT  LIGHT BROWNS AND ALSO A COPY OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.  THE ISSUE OF SLAVERY WAS BROUGHT UP  DURING THE WRITING OF THIS DOCUMENT BY JOHN ADDAMS AND HAD TO BE DROPPED IN ORDER TO PASS, ALONG WITH OTHER ISSUES OF THE TIME.  SO IT TOOK OVER A HUNDRED YEARS , THOUSANDS OF LIVES  AND A WAR BETWEEN BROTHERS OF A NATION TO DELIVER US ,  AS WE ARE TODAY.  BUT WE WOULD NOT BE THE NATION WE ARE TODAY ,  WITHOUT THE TRIBULATION OF BOTH THOSE WARS. ALSO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A HOUSE NOT DIVIDED, PUN INTENDED.
