Twisted Hexies

I finished hand piecing my twisted  hexies and put them together for a small table topper. I hand pieced them so I would have hand work at night.  I then put a light weight knit interfacing on the  back of the top.  Putting right sides together and stitching back and top;  using an eighth of and inch seam allowance and leaving an opening to turn right sides out.

I now only have to hand stitch the opening closed. Perhaps a little bit of hand quilting on the inside hexagons? Don’t you think!

I have also been busy during the day making variable star blocks as you can see.

101_1421

I will be finishing these up today and then I must start on the sawtooth star blocks.

Since I knew I would be finishing my small table topper tonight, I prepared some wool work on flannel to stitch afterwards.

It looks large however it is only 22 1/2 “ square. There are flying geese surrounding this square which are pieced. This is a pattern from “Elegant Quilts” by the Quilted Crow Girls .

Watching the Nascar race  and the Oscars tonight!  How about you?  Chit chat later,Martha.

On Target

My husband and I went out on a little excursion just down the road a piece. We were going to try out the new shooting range  in town. I received a 9mm handgun one year for my birthday and have not shot it yet. So we went to give it a try. You should have seen me jumping every time someone shot. I never realized that they were so loud!! You would have wet your pants to see me!  I did not do to bad though.  I will show you a picture of the target, but you must understand that both my husband and myself were shooting….

All of the bullets hit our target and all of mine hit within the light grey and red areas!

To me the hard was loading the clip.

Well judy B. you are the winner of the Lori Smith quilt book. If you will e-mail your snail mail address I will send it right out. Mary Ann said number three and you are number three!!!

Will chatter with you later, Martha.

A Finish!

I have finished “Lockridge Mill” quilt by Pam Buda. Quilted and bound! It is only about 17 “  by 22” . So it is a small quilt. It comes in two sizes and the larger is 22”  by  28”, so not that much bigger.

I have also begun another star quilt . It is called “Virginia’s Star Quilt “ by Lori Smith. I have a pic of the first two blocks which are variable star blocks. There are also sawtooth star blocks also.

Weather Alert!

Our weather storm still has another twelve hours to go according to the weatherman.

101_1408

We have gotten at least ten inches.  Hubby went out to blow the snow out of the driveway and from the front of the garage door. Just in case we might have to venture out.

Our store had it’s first meeting of Prairie Womens Sewing Circle as you will see from the pictures below , the 11:00 one was quite full.

Be Still My Beating Heart !

I was asked to accompany some special ladies to a super bowl quilt fabric sale. My momma did not raise a fool! I went!

Sale fabric was four dollars a yard! So I came home with a few  pretty things that I could not live without.  Like these…

I also finished the flowers on my hexie quilt and took it to the quilter. But of course I wanted you to see it first.
