Two Big Starts.

Image
Crow Wing county fair starts this Tuesday and runs thru saturday , August 2nd.  Minnesota shop hop starts on Friday , August 1st.  I took my entries to the fair today early so that I might concentrate on my sewing today! I am volunteering to sell raffle tickets for our guild's raffle quilt on thursday and friday  at the fair. Now to my sewing... at first I started off with some  2 1/2" squares , some half square triangles and some four patches. I only had to make twelve blocks! I positioned them in the order I wanted them, with three rows of four....... Once I had them arranged and put together,  I quilted and bound the 18 1/2" by 24 1/2" small quilt. Here it is finished.... This quilt is called "Meandering " by Kim Diehl.  I am sure I will be chattering with you this week , all for now, Martha.

This walnut shell filled pin cushion is from the  " Simple Appeals" book by Kim Diehl.  It was a quick one hour project!  This is another Kim Diehl project from her Simple Whatnots Club which starts in September at Colorz Quilt store in Baxter. It is called" Sunday Supper" .  It is approxamately  13 1/2 " x 16 1/2".  Love the colors of her new line Vintage Farmhouse. The whole line is at Colorz and is going fast as is the registration for the club!   The last Prairie Women's Sewing Circle meeting will be  August 5th, during Minnesota's shop hop. I have the last two quilt ready to show.   I am busy hand quilting in the evenings and enjoying it, but it is a long process so we will find out if I can stand the wait for gratification. Wish me luck! Martha.

In A Hurry

Image
I have been rushing to get a quilt top finished .  I would like to have it basted by the Tuesday Morning Quilt group from our guild. They are some very busy ladies who meet at a local church and once a month they baste your quilt for the token of a pastry gift to go with their coffee. Although they have now changed their meeting date to the monday after our guild meeting. So maybe they will have to change their name also!  I also exchanged days I work so that I could get there.  I finished putting the top together last night and have just to iron the back and I will be finished. So I will show you some pictures of the progression of work...... The blocks are taupes, greys and browns, and the embroidered blocks are made with a varigated brown thread. I don't think you can tell from the pic ,but their is a small pink/brown flange in the small dark brown border.  This pink/brown fabric will eventually be the binding.  I want it basted so that I may practise a little

For the Love of Yo Yo's !

I took a pic of a new project this morning to show you the size of my next project . I needed to put it in perspective for you, so I used my thumbnail in the pic also. It is sooooo  cute!  So here is a sneak peek! This is quilted and bound and ready for the last meeting of Prairie Women's Sewing Circle. The last quilt is being quilted as we speak. This will make a nice ending to Prairie Women's Sewing Circle! I also have two of Pam Buda's patterns for door prizes. During my travels this week , I went to two more stores that had the row by row free patterns! Love different interpretations of each store!  Check it out online " Row By Row Eperience ". It is going on now all over the United States and lasts until September 2! Martha.

A Small Finish

Image
I finished an embroidery block last night and so I have only one more to go before I can start putting them together! I have finished part two of Primitive Gatherings 10th anniversary sew-a-long. I am doing the wool version. I have a pic for you... Earlier I had answered a question on Mimmick and Simpson's blog and was a winner of a bag of Red and Cream scrap bags. So I decided to put them to good use in this small quilt! When I told Mr.SewWhat he actually giggled at me, more of a snicker really!  He just doesn't know how precious they are. Plus he doesn't know who Mimmick and Simpson are! I am doing a poor job of educating this man. I came home from work today with some dessert for my eyes  and inspiration for my soul. A fat eighth bundle of Kim Diehl's newest line Farmhouse Fresh. At" Colorz for Quilts"  we will be starting her new club in September! Chatter with you later, Martha.

July's Prairie Women

We had our Prairie Women's Sewing Circle meeting last Tuesday and I wanted to share some pics with you.    Linda Johnson made this lovely table runner!   Paula Murray showing her Wish quilt block she has finished.   And some of the Dear Jane blocks she has designed herself! Mary Theurer had this Tee Shirt she made for a friend's son. And she finished her applique on her Carolina Lilly quilt. Bonnie Witt is holding up a purse that Sharon Nelson made! Along with a pot holder and small wall hanging she whipped up! Can you also see the little x tool block quilt!  Just the size of a small mug rug! Too cute! Very busy women! Beth Fabian also had a cute small quilt. I  have a pic of a quilt I just took to  Rebecca Anakala To have quilted, it is an elongated hexagon quilt. All for now , chatter later,Martha.
