I still have the small borders to put on but things are moving along ...... I am going to try to make a pillow case to go along with this quilt.  I also finished  my Kaffe quilt . I have the hand quilting finished, binding put on and washed. Now I just need to put on a label. It will be a great comfy quilt for Crisis for Kids.   Going on retreat for three days, starting next Monday. Carol Nelson is opening her new Craft Camp in Pillager , Mn. Our group from 3rd Saturday will be the first group there. Soooo exciting!!   In for a lot of fun! Martha

Having a Whale of a Good Time

Image
Yes I have been having a whale of a good time, pun intended!!! With Elizabeth Hartman..... I have been enjoying putting together these blocks using grunge fabric....                             left facing whale                          right facing whale Hoping to get this put together before I go to retreat next week. I am enjoying it though!            Martha.

Finishing Touches

Image
I received my " Chain of Fools" quilt back from Connie on Saturday.  I decided on a binding with a small flange.  The binding is a combo of two fabrics sewn together and then sewn down from the back. And then lastly sewn down on the front. Spring is here! See all that snow in the background.... hasn't stopped people here from wearing shorts and no coats!                                        Even got my label on!                                  All for now, enjoy your day, Martha.

Put Together

Image
I have the blocks put together with my Kaffe mini charms. Now I need to put the three layers together , so that I can start hand quilting it.  The directions and next step in My Carolina Home's BOM came out today . I finished it because I am only doing a table topper. So it didn't take long. Busy day tomorrow chatter much later. Martha

Thimblecreek Blocks

Image
I finished the two new blocks that were given on Tuesday earlier this week. One green and one blue, like the rest of my blocks. I was ready to start a new hand quilting project and thought I would work with a stack of 2 1/2" squares of Kaffe fabrics. I bought them at Gruber's in St. Cloud, MN. They were a bundle of 250. I also had  2 1/2 yards of a background fabric that I thought would go well. I figured out a pattern that consisted of two different blocks. They come out 8 1/2" unfinished and 8" finished. The block with arrows to measurements looks like this.... The other block with four rows of four looks like this..... Got a few more blocks to make. Playing around with settings and found one I like .  I turned the four patch  block  different ways to get this pattern.  I may play around a bit more to find other ways to use these blocks before I decide. Chatter later, Martha.

Ready For something New

Image
I am ready to start something new today! I fixed my half square triangles in my Chain of Fools by Jen Kingwell.... I took it to be quilted by Connie Krueger. Of course I told her feathers! She has a lot of variety of them. I also finished hand quilting  concentric circles on my scrappy one . They are leftover from a dignity quilt that I did in December of last year. I washed and dried it to get out markings. It is very cuddly. I also put a label on the back. This quilt will be given to Linus or crisis for kids along with these two quilts and teddy bear.... They are hand quilted and all have labels on them. I will deliver them to Brenda Peterson this Saturday. All for now , sun is shining, bless you all for reading! Martha.

Not Quite A Finish

Image
I have a  picture of right side of Chain of Fools before adding it to center. I also have made the binding, which I am doing a small flange. Now a pic of the whole top, in doing this I found two half square triangles that are turned the wrong way. So it looks like I will be doing a little frog stitching! Plus I still need to make the backing. So not quite a finish but getting closer. Chatter when I get back from visiting my kids, Martha.

Left side

Image
Well I have the left side of blocks finished. We got hit with snowstorm last night with more expected Tuesday.  Guess it is a sewing day for sure. I just might finish the right side, cross your fingers. Martha

Center Put Together

Image
My Jen Kingwell quilt "Chain of Fools" quilt has the center all together. All I need is four blocks on the right side and four blocks on the left , to be finished. I am hoping to be finished before next Thursday when I leave to see my kids. Looking forward to that. We'll see how things progress. Chatter later, Martha.
