Hacked!

Image
My email account has been hacked, sorry for the inconveinence to all my contacts.  I have changed  my passwords and hopefully will hinder any more emails running askew. Some people don’t have anything productive to do with their time. I have finished my last row of hexies for my Pam Buda quilt.   Then I  added the   borders…. Here is a pic of the back… So you can see some of the papers still in before I pulled them out!   Now I need to put the appliques on.   I  also got two blocks for my “Wish Quilt” ready to embroider. My Windy Farm quilt came back from the quilter’s . She put swirls  in for my wind.  Hopefully you can tell from these pics! I used a charm pack of Barbara Brackman’s 1862 fabric and used what was leftover for the backing. Since we last chatted our store had its grand opening and celebrated visit your local quilt store.  Everything is busy ,busy! We will talk more later,Ma...

Windy Farm

Image
I have recently finished Pam Buda's ,  Journey Three , Windy Farm .  I had started thinking about how and why they name quilts the way they do. I know sometimes it is taking into account the fabric used.  But then I kept staring at this one from a distance and realizes that from above or in the sky the squares might represent different farm  crops and roads between them. The pinwheels might be windmills.  So I put five crows on top of the quilt to help visualize  an aireal view. Can you find them? The program always discusses making do and using up what you have already surrounding you. So I used what was left of the charm pack of Barbara Brackman's 1862 Battle Hymn fabric to make the fabric wider and to use it up. Now all I have to do is stitch the birds down.  So cold today! This morning was -15* felt like -30*. Stayed in , except to walk to mailbox because I forgot it was a holiday!  Chi chat later,Martha

Carrying On

Image
I gave my hubby a pattern before Christmas and told him he did not have to make it  this year. But that this was something that I would like for him to make me.  That all he had to do was to promise me he would make it.   He finished my quilt rack!! I have put 6 small quilts on it so far. I love it. He did it in less than a week after we got around for shopping for wood. Such a sweet hubby.   I also got one of my quilts back from quilter. Some custom feather quilting with spiral flower design in middle of star. Beautifully done.     Next Thursday is visit your local quilt shop day and also the first day of our grand re-opening! Put it on your calendar.   Stop by and say hi.  All for now,Martha.

Something Old , Something New

Image
My hexi quilt a little further along.  The “Contrary Wife” quilt has returned from quilter’s. It is just beautifully done!  She mimicked the orange reels in the quilting with one inch ones on the inside backround. On the blue border she out lined figures in it. I have put a couple of blocks that need embroidery for the “ Wish Quilt” by Browyn  Hayes , on “Transfer Ease” If you are unfamiliar with the product , it washes away and leaves no residue.  No need to transfer design to material. Did you get last Friday’s Pam Buda ‘s  Block from Heartspun Quilts?  Aurifil thread has also begun a new block of the month. Chit chat later,Martha.

Missing

Yes I have gone  missing in Blogland!  I went to visit my kids and grandkids for the holidays.  They try very hard to entertain us  while we are there. Even though it is nice to just sit and talk with them. They are very interesting adults,  even though they might not think so. My son and husband took off one day and went to a sushi restaurant.  Apparently my son has discovered an interest in it and has visited several times. My husband likes fish but has never tried sushi. He loved it ! He said I would be in trouble if there was a restaurant around here. I said that I would not be, but that he would be doing his eating out alone. They also visited an Oddities Resale shop. The kid that sells skeletons of  two headed animals and weird  medical oddities.  My hubby had a great time!  This is a pic of some of my family opening presents. We had a white elephant gift exchange between the adults and had some fun with that and d...
