Sewing

Image
Yes I have been doing some sewing, this pesky rain doesn't let you do much more. Going to Minnesota State Fair on Thursday , thank goodness no rain predicted .  It has helped my zucchini plants. I finished appliqueing and trimmed down my first block for Lori Holt's "Autumn Love".   And I have been slowly working on my Quilt of Valor quilt.   It is for my husband's uncle who is 96 years old, and served during WWII  as a 1st Lieutenant in the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper.  He was sent to the Eagle's Nest in  Berchtesgaden, Germany. This is where Hitler entertained  high ranking officers and those close to him. He did not live there though. Just kept on making blocks. Three rows, but not sewn together yet. All sewn together, just needs pressing. I have purchased the backing and have sewn it together.  Now I must make a label and press it tomorrow.  Hopefully by Friday I will have it at quilter's. Chatter later, Martha.

Autumn Love

Lori Holt from "Bee in My Bonnet " has started her Autumn Love sew a long this week. I have my first block ready to sew down and embroider. Here it is... I have also started a QOV (Quilt of Valor) quilt for my husband's uncle , a  WWII vet. Only two blocks done, but only need 10 more ,as they are large blocks (18 1/2"). Chatter later, Martha.

A Finish

Image
I had been working on this project while working on Moda's summer camp quilt.  Finished it up and took to the quilter's today! The top is one layer cake and nothing else. It is "Sweet Harmony" .  If I remember correctly it is by Sweetwater. I decided to back it with a charcoal grey by Kona. Enjoy your day, Martha.

Third Saturday

Image
Well Third Saturday is here!  I am prepared but only by a small margin. Last night before going to bed I finished the binding on the last placemat or disposable puppy pad. Ha Ha! If they are too ugly for placemats they can still serve a purpose. The tenth  one tried to escape. I also have finished last month's homework on our mystery quilt. Lewis and Roxanne June Mary LuAnn Linda and Karen Jo ann My grandson  Eric and wife sarah Sarah  and my daughter Lilly Some pictures of my lovely relatives from the Mumaw Reunion. I didn't get a pic of everyone but will next time. Chatter later, Martha.

Using Up the scraps

I have my Moda Summer Camp quilt bound and done! Now to show the backing...... This is without the last round of blocks.  I made them but didn't like them, so what to do? Make placemats! So I made a total of ten, but only have binding sewn on four of them. This is my project tonight while watching television with hubby.  I enjoyed traveling to Nebraska for my hubby's family reunion. I had never been to North and South Dakota either. Very enjoyable. Chatter later, Martha.

I Think I Am Finished

Image
I did not like the orange peel block for path A.  I wasn't that impressed with pathway B. But I started making them anyway, I made 30 blocks and put them next to the last row and said NO! So I trimmed it and got it ready for binding! I am only going to use it for my dining room table, as a tablecloth.  So I figured I would not miss an extra row, it measures 56" square as it sits now.  Plenty big enough for my table.   I am going to a family reunion in Nebraska tomorrow and planning on stopping at a quilt store or two, wish me safe travels. Chatter later, Martha.
