Been Busy!

Image
Been busy and productive this week. Found my elephant blocks that I have been looking for at least before Christmas.  And I have sewn them together to make a nice size for a crib quilt.  It also includes some English paper piecing..... I also sent three of these to my Aunt Bell  for her and my other two Aunts. I started a new lap  quilt  by Villa Rosa Designs called "Fortuna" which will be 50" x 61" when finished. This is one block , the smaller blocks that surround that grey/black texture weave are Basic Grey's new line "Nova". I have all 20 blocks made, now I need to work on the sashing. I have my quilt on a stick bound, but I still need to sew on the plastic worm.  I have also figured out what to do with my handkerchiefs..... I only have three blocks laid out for now.... I have plenty to work on for now, chatter more later.  Martha.

Still Snowing!

Yes it is supposed to snow five more inches tonight into tomorrow. I am really looking forward to Spring , but it might not get here until May! I finished my one hand project and gave it to the quilter last week. I really enjoyed working with the wool. The pattern is from "Elegant Quilts" by the Quilted Crow girls. It is done on flannel. It is only 26 1/2 " square. At the last session of Prairie Women I showed this extra dresden block that I had and had placed a hexagon instead of a circle.  I am going to make a placemat out of it and donate to our guild's  meals on wheels project.  I also have two hexagon quilts in progress, but have not worked much with them lately. At night I have been doing some more hexies..... Kind of scrappy, have also started four more. Will work on these some more while watching"Vikings" series and "The Apprentise".  These hexies were left over from my " Prairie Women" hexie quilt t...

Fall Table Toppers and Candle Mats

Image
I finished the table topper with the yo yo's and embroidery as you can see.  I quilted it and put on same binding as the fabric on the back of it.      I have now started making hexes or english paper piecing .  I need to make 19 hexes.      I first cut out 19 hexes from freezer paper.      I then picked out different fabrics and I ironed the hexes onto the back of the fabrics.  That is the shiny side down on the back of the fabric.  I then roughly cut the fabric 1/4 " from the freezer paper.  There is always something new in sewing and quilting.  I have never tried hexes before, but so far I do like it.  Hope to finish this candle mat tonight,so that I may show it to you tomorrow along with a picture of my white featherweight ,that i just purchased.  All for now, I must get busy with these hexes!! martha
