sew what's new?

Been under the weather the last week, but have done a little sewing.  I have just tried to keep up with the "Splendid Sampler". Here are the blocks that I have finished.... I have also kept up with "Thimblecreek " .... I finally finished  my "Buttermilk Basin" block in time for this Friday's new one..... While visiting Lori Holt's blog got  inspired to make three of these Only finished the one , but I have three grand daughters, so two more are needed.  Refresh is the fabric line. Got to go to work today and tonight is a lecture on Wool at our guild meeting. I may need a short nap before that! Chatter later, Martha.

I was doing a little of slow stitching last night while watching Downton Abbey.Got this piece 1/2 the way done.... I made some more barn stars,but will wait and show those tomorrow. I made about six small block flannel squares. I followed Lori Holt's tutorial on her blog Bee In My Bonnet   . I will show a few steps, it is not that hard... Cut a 20 X 30 foam core board into six - 10" square pieces. You are going to be using a hot glue gun to fuse your batting to one side of foam core 10" square. I put the batting side down after fusing and used my rotary cutter and mat to trim away excess batting. I ironed a crease in 2 1/2 " wof  and used it as a guideline to bring each side into the middle. I then glued it to the side of the foam core and treated it like binding mitering the corners and overlapping the edges and gluing them down. I purchased some finger protector's for heat. Yes I have been busy with a mish mash of things.  I finished another candle mat. And I put up the tree! I am up to par with Bee in My Bonnet's , Lori Holt's sew a long. week 1 week 2 week 3 Worked a little on my hand applique flowers as you can see. I have also done a little straightening in the sewing room in anticipation of company for Thanksgiving.  I am presently making binding for my hexagon one block wonder or kaleidoscpe quilt.  Thanks for stopping by, Martha.
