sew what's new?

I recieved my January copy of Quiltmania. I got a 2 year subscription and a charm pack for $110.00.  Which means I get each issue mailed to my home for $9.17.  A total of twelve issues. I really like the courthouse steps on cover and I also like Thimblecreek's (Joe and Roxie Wood) contribution (Baby Its Cold Outside) inside also. Plus  there is a new Mystery by Karen Styles of Material Obsession. It is a great read and plenty of patterns for the price! Just sayin'... Next is a pic of my quilting frame and a quilt inside. I actually got to roll it about 8 inches yesterday. I am just starting to find my niche with it and my Big Stitch quilting. I am quilting concentric  circles because I thought it would be a good contrast to the squares and  rectangles. After I finish it I plan to give it as a crisis quilt. What you have probably been waiting for, some more Van Gogh from Cherrywood. This one had a lot going on in it. Sorry ...

I had four quilts come back from quilting and they were all given out at different times. So I have been knee deep in binding and putting on labels. The first is my favorite, my handsewn hexies... Those are buttons on top of those yo yo's. There is a little blind on the right hand side too. I did a wavy edge and used what I put on my backing on the binding. As you can see it has a label too! This is my hand appliqued pitcher quilt from January's Quiltmania magazine. It is quilted and bound. It is also quilted and bound with a label.  My arm may break from all this patting of my back. I have been working on another Pam Buda quilt. These are the first two rows. I will show the two last quilts in the next post. Chatter later, Martha.

I got a couple of small quilts back from Rebecca Annakala, who quilts for the store. One was a baby quilt made from Julie Herman's "Science Fair". It took one half a jelly roll and one yard of backround fabric , for the top. The other is called "Something Blue" By Pam Buda. I also did some work on my applique quilt from  Jan/ Feb issue of Quiltmania magazine. I counted my pitchers and found out I only have 35 and I need 42. So I am preparing the last 7 blocks.  Tomorrow I go to the Aitkin Guild meeting so goodnight to all, Martha.

I have a couple of pics to share with you.  The first is some more progress on my broken dishes quilt from the last Quiltmania Magazine. With these added to my previous ones I now have a total of 27...... brown pitcher yellow pitchers green pitchers And I need 7 more and then I can start the piecing blocks that go between. Next a pic of a baby quilt useing one half of a jelly roll and one yard of fabric!  I have already sent it to the quilter's. It is a pattern "Science Fair"  from Jaybird Quilts  Quick and easy. I have now finished 18 of the pitcher blocks.  Thought I would show pics of the variety so far. I am in the process of prepping some more blocks. Last night at Pinetree Patchworkers Guild meeting we were asked to sew 2 foundation string pieced blocks with some of the strips that were cut from the fat quarters we each brought.  We will donate the quilt made from this blocks. So at next month's meeting I will be bringing these .... Slow and steady wins the race!  Chatter later,Martha.

Since I am not a big fan of football, I did some sewing and prep work  instead. I finished my Carolina Lilly by Pam Buda. I put a little flange on the inside of the binding, with 1/4 " peeking out. Love the quilting that Rebecca did on it. I  purchased the newest Quiltmania magazine  and fell in love with one of quilts . So I started prepping blocks to applique at our next hand sewing club meeting tomorrow. Here is a pic.... I did not reverse the pattern so my pitchers are going the opposite way the ones in the original piece are. But it makes no difference to me.  Off to work chatter later,Martha.

I HAVE IT ALL LAID DOWN  AND I HAVE A SMALL AMOUNT OF STITCHING STARTED.  IT IS SO CUTE I JUST COULDN'T RESIST. SO HOP ON OVER AND TAKE A PEEK.  I AM SO USED TO HAVING TO REVERSE THE PATTERN MYSELF BECAUSE MOST PATTERNS DON'T DO IT FOR YOU. THAT I DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL IT WAS TO LATE THAT SHE HAS ALREADY DONE THAT FOR YOU. SO DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE.  I FIGURE HARRINGTON AND HANNAH RABBIT ARE JUST TAKING TURNS SITTING ON OPPOSITE SIDES. GOT MY EIGHTH BLOCK OF HENRIETTA WHISKERS BY ANNE SUTTON DONE.  I DECIDED I DID NOT LIKE WINDOW PANES EMBROIDERED ON. SO I JUST EMBROIDERED THE LEAF VINE IN.  NOW ON TO BLOCK NINE. I MADE TH...
