sew what's new?

I have finished my backing and top to my "Amish revolution" quilt. I also finished one more block of my Lucy Boston quilt.  I have also made two more halloween table runners... front back front back We'll talk later, Martha.

Yes I am piddling around, Piddling , piddling, piddling!  When I am  doing hand applique  ,it always takes me so long to make decisions. So I will show you a pic of what is going on one corner of my "Amish Revolution" quilt.... I have most of it sewn down and just need to put on the electrical cord and plug.  I will do Overall Sam in the opposite corner. I have been sewing together all scraps from front for the back and added a little center piece which is my label also. Still have a few more to stitch together  to make it big enough.  We will chat some more when I make more progress, Martha

It is already the middle of August and I have not started Christmas projects yet!  But I have started Halloween. The pic below is found in the book by Disa Designs , "More of My Runners". I still must layer quilt and bind. I really like crows and ravens a lot! I have another Buck block done and this is number eleven. I think I can start putting it together now. I have collected my fabrics and decided how to border it. I have been making half square triangles with triangles on a roll. That way I do not have to mark fabric and can still make eight at a time with two charm squares. I am trying to catch up to block four on Pam Buda's sew a long.  Hope the shop hop going on for those in Minnesota, has been a learning experience and a whole lot of fun! Chit chat later, Martha.

That's right just two more days until Minnesota Shop Hop! I worked on my "Painted Toes In the Sand". I have finished putting rows 5 thru 7 together! I will be putting rows together tomorrow. I also have a pic of this week's buck block... Our  Crow Wing County Fair started yesterday, hubby and I enjoyed ourselves walking around and looking at exhibits. It is a very charming country fair. On the Buck Block forefront  I have block #7 finished! I have all the arcs finished for my double wedding ring..... I have to decide the color of the footballs and center pieces. I  needed a change of pace ,  some time to catch on other things too.  So now I have a pic of the next block  of our summer buck blocks... .. Also Sherri falls of " Little bits of This and That" which you can find here  has begun a new sew-a-long for fall (pumpkins and all you know). I finished the quilting on my "Runners Rock" table topper and am now sewing on the binding. I received my fall issue of Primitive Quilts and had to of course sit and read it immediately! Don't you just love it! So much in just one magazine, so way above the rest. Also I have been keeping a little something from you.  I have added another hand project to the mix of things to do while watching BAD television.  Lucy Boston 's POTC (Patchwork of The Crosses)  has joined the mix. I only have just begun, and I just can't sew fast enough! I only have two blocks partially done , but I thought I would  reveal them because it is so hard for me no...

Been working on my Christmas list. How about you? Do you start early too?  This year my pet projects will be aprons ,dish towels, pot holders and small table toppers and coasters. Kind of a kitchen theme I guess. I so far have made two aprons both reversible . Pocket on this one. Then apron number two..... Has two towel holders on each side and two pockets on each side. Other side is red with light black wrought iron print. Then  there is the dish towel, only one done so far..... Hexies of course I have also finished my Buck Block for the week.  Hard to believe we are half way thru  already. With six down and six more weeks to go. I still have not decided on which setting to do yet. But I do still have time.  Sorry for the dark pics. I will try to do better. It is dark ,rainy and gloomy today. Even the flash doesn't brighten it up.  Chit chat later,Martha.

 This weeks Block of the Week.  Still doing some non exciting quilting. Temecula Quilt co. has a pattern for a 2" cakestand  block and will give you two settings if you make one a day for the month of July and August.    Really kind of cute! temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com   chat later,Martha.

I  have finished the fourth  block  of our  " block of the week"  during the summer.  So here it is.... Earlier this month we had a class given by Emily Hartwig for our quilt guild the Pinetree Patchworkers.   I only have the top put together , not any of the wool applique nor the embroidery done.  I lost 3 blocks somewhere  from then until this morning and had to remake them.  Ever do that?     So now you will be seeing the progress  over the next few weeks.  Chit chat later, Martha.

I worked today, I know that is no excuse of not having anything for Scrappy Sunday. So I will try and have something scrappy for you tomorrow. How ever since I was at work ,  I picked up my buck block and have it put together for your approval.... Just The Two of Us Chatter with you later Martha.

Tomorrow will be week 8 and so we will recieve another block for our buck blocks. I thought I would show you mine so far, they are put together so thier are half square triangles and quarter square triangle blocks in the mix also! I have one end of my first border put on . The first border has dark black circles in the fabric. The second border will be the same dark fabric that is in the half and quarter square triangle blocks. Here are the pics! This is the second week of buck blocks. One block , one buck, one week . Easy peasy! My block-- I also finished five blocks of my Remembrance quilt. Still working on binding for Alice in Wonderland quilt.   Martha

esterday our summer buck block program began.  So for twelve weeks and only $12.00  each participant will receive directions to make a block and also receive different settings to possibly use to put together a quilt.  Here is a pic of my block with batiks used. With a little help from my friends I was able to put together today!   I only did the one block but thought I would give you differnt angles to look at. Also with many designers blogging about spring market, I had heard many good things about a cotton and wool quilt book called Elegant Quilts ,Country Charm .  It is by The Quilted Crow Girls from Australia.  There are so many lovely projects that it will be hard to choose one to begin. Let me share a few. This is  an excellent book for inspiration! Directions are excellent  also. Take time to look up this ladies on the web, well worth your time.
