Retreat is on Monday!!!

Image
I am so excited that retreat is next week! Looking forward to girl time. When I was ironing my "Autumn Love" quilt top , my heart sank as I realized that I had forgotten to do all the embroidery accents on many of the applique blocks! I finished ironing it but now it sits waiting to be embroidered . I am not going to drag it to retreat, as I promised myself something new to work on..... Autumn Love I have also finished my "Hugs and Kisses" quilt top that I took to retreat last year.  I have pics of the progression to its building. The fabric and pattern is by Jen Kingwell. It is finished so that it will not be going with me either! I had some leftover small wool applique blocks leftover and my friend Connie said to put them in a small wall hanging for the guild's Boutique fund raiser at our Quilt Show in June. So I have finished that this past week. Binding finished! I recently got back my red and white ...

Getting Ready!

Image
I have been trying to get ready for retreat this April 1st thru the third. Last year I brought a quilt that had been in Quiltmania.    I had purchased a kit from Moda for this, same fabrics as the cover photo. Fabric and pattern are designed by one of my favorite designers! Jen Kingwell!!! Last year I forgot to bring the right rulers to be able to cut the pieces out, so next to nothing was done. So my goal this year was to have all diamonds put together so that I can just put blocks together and leave with a top put together! We'll see how far I get. Till I have a pile, but not quite finished..... I still have a couple of weeks to prepare, so I still have some time! Chatter later, Martha.

A Finish

Image
I finished the binding on my whale quilt and I made a pillowcase to go with it... I also started on my "Hexie Kisses" by Jen Kingwell. This was the quilt that I could not start on retreat because my hexie ruler did not have 2" hexies and I had no template plastic nor any freezer paper. So here first is one diamond... Then I have a start on my center row of diamonds... I am making my daughter  and sister each an apron for Mother's day, but will have to show those in the next post. Ms. Connie also basted my Tula Pink quilt, so tonight I can start hand quilting while watching TV.  Chit chat later,Martha.

Finishing Touches

Image
I received my " Chain of Fools" quilt back from Connie on Saturday.  I decided on a binding with a small flange.  The binding is a combo of two fabrics sewn together and then sewn down from the back. And then lastly sewn down on the front. Spring is here! See all that snow in the background.... hasn't stopped people here from wearing shorts and no coats!                                        Even got my label on!                                  All for now, enjoy your day, Martha.

Ready For something New

Image
I am ready to start something new today! I fixed my half square triangles in my Chain of Fools by Jen Kingwell.... I took it to be quilted by Connie Krueger. Of course I told her feathers! She has a lot of variety of them. I also finished hand quilting  concentric circles on my scrappy one . They are leftover from a dignity quilt that I did in December of last year. I washed and dried it to get out markings. It is very cuddly. I also put a label on the back. This quilt will be given to Linus or crisis for kids along with these two quilts and teddy bear.... They are hand quilted and all have labels on them. I will deliver them to Brenda Peterson this Saturday. All for now , sun is shining, bless you all for reading! Martha.

Not Quite A Finish

Image
I have a  picture of right side of Chain of Fools before adding it to center. I also have made the binding, which I am doing a small flange. Now a pic of the whole top, in doing this I found two half square triangles that are turned the wrong way. So it looks like I will be doing a little frog stitching! Plus I still need to make the backing. So not quite a finish but getting closer. Chatter when I get back from visiting my kids, Martha.

Left side

Image
Well I have the left side of blocks finished. We got hit with snowstorm last night with more expected Tuesday.  Guess it is a sewing day for sure. I just might finish the right side, cross your fingers. Martha

Center Put Together

Image
My Jen Kingwell quilt "Chain of Fools" quilt has the center all together. All I need is four blocks on the right side and four blocks on the left , to be finished. I am hoping to be finished before next Thursday when I leave to see my kids. Looking forward to that. We'll see how things progress. Chatter later, Martha.

A Little Further Along

Image
I have gotten a little further along with my Jen Kingwell (Chain of Fools) quilt as you see here. Had some errands to run today with hubby, so didn't get to much else done. For those of you in 3rd Saturday group I posted this there, a full frontal of our February block. I will also post here.... I needed a little help to find out where I went wrong, so Brenda, dear sweet Brenda helped me find my error. Thank you again Brenda. Chit chat later, Martha.

Another Jen Kingwell

Image
I have had this quilt cut out for over a year. I finally felt it was time to sew it up! It is a Jen Kingwell quilt(54" x 66" ) called Chain of Fools.  I decided to do mine in blues and greens mainly with a bit of orange as a spark.  I still have not gotten away from the geese yet....                            I have four blocks partially done. 2 blocks 2 blocks                                 Then I have one fully done.     It is a fairly large block. There are 16 blocks total. It has a scrappy look. Love all the color against the white.  We've a white out snow storm with a possible 4" -8" downfall. Tomorrow some winds coming in. Chatter later , Martha.

Quilted and Bound

Image
I have my Gypsy Wife by Jen Kingwell quilted and bound.  Pictures to follow... Pic of some quilting , which I choose an all over design... Pink backing with charcoal binding. And of course a label to finish it off.  Chatter later, Martha.
