Applique Group

Image
Our applique group meets the third  friday of every month. We had a nice turn out yesterday. First a pic of the blocks that have been turned in..... Ladies you have until our January meeting to return your blocks. This quilt is for a charity quilt fundraiser. This picture does not do the fabrics justice. They are really beautiful! The weather was kind to us on the day of our meeting and even though "STAR WARS"     opened up in the theater's the night before we still had people show up!  Kathi Potter came... she was working on her Sue Spargo quilt blocks. Karen Martin and Ann Manly came.... Ann in the plaid, brought her knitting and Karen was working on her free  Buttermilk Basin  12 month wool project.  Sandy Baker also came and had a cute little minion pin cushion in her basket of goodies. Mary Amiot shared her "Birdie all Year Round " project from Bonnie Sullivan. She is marching right along with it (I haven't started mine....

Three More Blocks For Charity Quilt !!

Image
Judy Shaw turned in her block which you see below... Merrilee Mondo dropped off her two blocks... Everyone has until January to finish their blocks and hand them in. This is a pattern by Anne Sutton, aka - Bunny Hill. We have applique group next friday and perhaps a few more will be handed in. I also recieved my "Sassy " quilt back from Mary Hammer who quilted it.... It has the binding sewn on and I will be working on sewing it down to the back the next few nights. I also finished my Hugs and Kisses quilt made with "Silver Linings " line of fabric. I  took a few pics to show off the top... I took it to Mary also.  I used all my scraps from the line and all the extra blocks in the backing. Just being frugal. Now to work on my Farmer's Wife 1930's blocks! Martha.

Busy Day?

Image
Slow in some spots and busy little bee in others. Doing house work , dishes,  laundry , making beds and such. I do have a washing machine and dryer.  I do have a dishwasher.  And i only have one bed to make ; so why do things take so long. It must be me ,  wanting to get to the fun part of sewing.  However my car needed a little attention today also. My husband had the fuse it needed for the cruise control.  We did have to make a trip out for the bulb for my license plate.   So I would like to show and share with you Block #5 for my stitch therapy group that I finished. I also prepared the pieces for Henrietta whiskers block # 9.  I placed them down and hopefully tonight I can begin sewing them down.  I also promised a friend I would try and make her some yo yo's.  I hope you all have a fun and productive weekend.  Delight in each breath you take.  martha

I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN  SURPRISED , AFTER ALL IT IS THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY.  YESTERDAY WE AWOKE TO AT LEAST  2 INCHES OF THE WHITE STUFF ,FINALLY COVERING UP ALL THAT BROWN.  WE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY  WINTER WHITE! http://theraspberryrabbit.com THIS IS JANUARY'S FREE   BOM FROM THE RASPBERRY RABBIT. I HAVE IT ALL LAID DOWN  AND I HAVE A SMALL AMOUNT OF STITCHING STARTED.  IT IS SO CUTE I JUST COULDN'T RESIST. SO HOP ON OVER AND TAKE A PEEK.  I AM SO USED TO HAVING TO REVERSE THE PATTERN MYSELF BECAUSE MOST PATTERNS DON'T DO IT FOR YOU. THAT I DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL IT WAS TO LATE THAT SHE HAS ALREADY DONE THAT FOR YOU. SO DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE.  I FIGURE HARRINGTON AND HANNAH RABBIT ARE JUST TAKING TURNS SITTING ON OPPOSITE SIDES. GOT MY EIGHTH BLOCK OF HENRIETTA WHISKERS BY ANNE SUTTON DONE.  I DECIDED I DID NOT LIKE WINDOW PANES EMBROIDERED ON. SO I JUST EMBROIDERED THE LEAF VINE IN.  NOW ON TO BLOCK NINE. I MADE TH...

I THEN PROGRESSED AND BEFORE I KNEW IT I HAD THREE DONE!!! I KEEP MEAT TRAYS AND WASH THEM WELL AND USE THEM AS TRAYS TO KEEP ME PIECES IN SO THAT I DON'T LOSE THEM.  IT KEEPS ME A LITTLE MORE ORGANIZED. THANKS FOR VISITING WITH ME, ENJOY TODAY ,THE HERE AND NOW!  MARTHA

MANY ROADS TO PARADISE

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO GET TO THE SAME PLACE. THERE ARE ALSO MANY WAYS TO DO APPLIQUE . THERE IS HAND AND MACHING DONE . EACH MAY BE DONE A VARIETY OF WAYS.  PICK WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.  I USE A FREEZER PAPER METHOD WITH LIQUID STARCH WATERED DOWN  THREE TO ONE .  WHICH I HAVE PUT IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND NEEDS TO BE SHAKEN BEFORE SPRAYED INTO A SMALLER BOWL OR EMPTY CAP. TAKE YOUR PATTERN AND COPY EACH PIECE INDIVIDUALLY  MAKING SURE TO FLIP EACH PIECE THAT IS DIRECTIONAL  (I FORGET THIS A LOT )  IN MY NEXT BLOCK THE ONLY THING THAT IS NOT DIRECTIONAL IS THE ACORN HOUSE AND THE ACORN.  YOU ARE COPYING THIS PATTERN ON THE NON-WAXY SIDE OF THE FREEZER PAPER. YOU CAN DO THIS WITH A LIGHT BOX OR A WINDOW IN THE DAYLIGHT.  NEXT PICK OUT YOUR FABRICS. IRON THE WAXY SIDE TO THE CORRECT FABRIC PLACING WRONG SIDE TO THE WAXY SIDE TO THE  OF THE FABRIC.   THEN CUT OUT LEAVING BETWEEN 1/8 AND 1/4" OUTSIDE OF THE FREEZER PAPER. SHAKE YOUR MI...
