sew what's new?

  I have taken my "Coastal Lily" quilt to the quilter. It was queen size after two borders were added. I also made a flanged binding for when it returns. I've got some pics to share with you.... and the binding....   There were a lot of waste triangles from this quilt and they were saved. The triangles were 3" square and I  think I can get 36  blocks that are  8" square. I will still have some Half square triangles.  Here are the 11 blocks that I have so far....  I have a bag of circles left over also. I think I'll add those to the blocks also! I can't even imagine having this much leftover and disposing of it! We'll see what I can come up with. Be safe and be kind. Martha.   I have a little preview of the Coastal Lily  quilt that I'm working on.... I  have made quilt labels from pieces of the civil war  fabric from Judie Rothermel. I also finished the binding on another Tula Pink " Line work " quilt that recently came back from the quilter's. Last pic is the backing fabric, another Tula Pink backing.   I have eighteen more sashings finished..... I have now started to make four at a time since I have run out of precut rectangles. Makes it go a bit faster.  I have 28 blocks done with embroidery stems (I need 56 total.)  I have begun making the berry circles.   I have begun to glue them on this square, so that I can applique them down during tv time. After they are sewn down , I can trim the square to it's proper size.  Chatter later, Martha.

  I have decided to do "Coastal Lily" by Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson. I found the pattern in the American Quilter Magazine in July of 2015 and saved it.  There is a bit of embroidery and applique to it. This is a picture of the article that I tore out of the magazine. I prefer making my geese four at a time with Deb Tucker's ruler. However the pattern does it one by one and gives more variety in fabrics for the geese. Then five are sewn together for the sashing strips. I now have four and need about 56. So in the evening I am doing the embroidery for each lily block. It's the stems that hold up the berries. I am using a variety of grey threads and have finished 17 blocks so far. I need 48, so I have a ways to go.  Be safe and be kind, Martha.
