sew what's new?

What I've been up to..... I have gotten four rows together and have started on the last 8 blocks needed. Still have a few rounds to go on these. I have cut my binding strips and my border strips. I also need to iron my backing fabric. Bet you've been busy too! Want to try making a couple face masks and starting Edyta Sitar's sew a long. I printed out Gudren Eurla's sew a long pattern, but it is large peices and not very complicated. I think I can do that on my own. Chatter later, Martha.

I felt I could not do a post until I had Bonnie Hunter's " Grand Illusion"  all put together to show you.   I took it to the quilter's yesterday, but rest assured I took some pics before I did that. Might be a few pics after I get that back, too!   A look at the borders. It felt good to finish and move on to some ufo's to finish. I have a hexagon flower one I am working on. I have finished two more blocks this past week.... These have a backround piece of Kim Diehl's fabric line " Hearthside Seasons"  from a couple of years ago.  The hexagons are made from two charm packs of "Jelly Bean" by Laundry basket Quilts. I also finished one more block of a quilt I had started about two or three years ago, let me show you first the block I had already finished  then.... Last night I finished another..... It is wool and flannel , the pattern is "Wooly Critter Sampler" by Brandywine Design...

I took some pics outside today to see if they would come out any better. It was not a bright day , kind of grey. This next quilt was made from Edyta Sitar's fabric and recently came back from Rebecca Annakala ,who quilted it! Chatter soon, martha.

I am really digging autumn right now, with all the color starting to show.  Been busy with table toppers and candle mats. First up is a Sandy Gervais pattern that I did applique in wool where she had in cotton raw edge.  The "candy bundle" is called Posh Pumpkins. The next two are Buttermilk Basin monthly kits and are not layered and bound yet. One is for October and one for November. October November This  last one is not sewn  together yet just laid out in order. It is called "Jolene's Star " by Laundry basket quilts. My friend Mary Ann had the templates and I need to get them back to her when I go back home this month. Thank you Mary Ann for being so patient! I also got two of my half diamonds pieced together for my EPP project in diamonds. How is your fall taking off?  Off to work today so stay busy and chatter at you later. Martha

I have changed the quilts in my house yo autumn inspired! I finally quilted and bound my "Puss in the Corner" small quilt. So let me share with you.... Next is the Laundry Basket quilt  ..... I also got a few more hexies made.... Also been playing around with bigger hexagons and the hex'n more ruler and sidekick ruler. Want to get a few recipe blocks written down for Prairie Women's sew-in , Any one of these blocks could be used to make a quilt , candle mat, or mix them together. Can you see the cube or box? This block is called " inner city"  because blocks are all going in different directions. This block I have found goes by two names. One is "Texas Star" and the other is the "Sunflower " block.  It is big enough to make it a candle mat. Not for for sure what proper name is so I call it my "star block".  I will be working on a few recipes tonight also.  Enjoy your day and than...

Yesterday I went out to get the mail and got two surprises! One letter was a surprise because it was from my sister whom I am going to see in three weeks.  She gave my hubby a  bracelet, which he immediately put on. Second letter was from   Edyta Sitar   !  (aka- Laundry Basket Quilts). I had entered a challenge on her blog and did not know if I made the first 100 cut off .  Well apparently I did get included and received directions I also received a package of her silhouettes! We must design something with them ,we do not have to use them all and can add other things also. Then must send her a pic by May 1st.  This lit up my day, I was so tickeled that you could have painted me purple and wrapped me up in lights. Wow! Then I actually finished another block for Stitch Therapy Club. Life is full of surprises and most precious!  Have a great day! Martha
