What's Up

Image
More Doctor visits than anything in the sewing room. Working on my blocks for Mystery Quilt for our third saturday group still.  I needed 84  four patch blocks. I have about 90 done. I am using black as my background color.... I then started to make fabric as Victoria Findley Wolfe puts it. Amanda Jean Nyberg says its sewing slabs together.... I then sew up my 4 1/2" half square triangles. I haven't gotten them put together yet, will write again once I do. I have gotten two of my quilts back from quilter's. They are from my 2 1/2" strip bin. The first is from quilter, Susan Gordon and is bound and has a label on. The second has a label on and has been quilted by Karl Muller. I haven't had time to make binding yet but it is trimmed. It also has a pieced backing of flannel and corduroy.  I will be finishing this off next. I still have two other quilts out to be quilted. So happy to see snow melting , hope this continues, ...

Guild Held Log Cabin Class

Image
Our guild held a log cabin class taught by Linda Augenbright this past week. We had our choice  of doing either a 2" or 2 1/2" wide logs.  So I decided to use 2 1/2", a batik  jelly roll by Laundry Basket to be exact. I used my scrappy light colors from my saved scraps. I also decided to applique 3 birds on it too! Three blue birds to represent, father, son, and holy spirit. At least that is what I think of when I see it.                                      Before applique added.                                    After applique added. I also got my mystery quilt from Guild bound  and will be giving it away today. It was a nice day yesterday, so I asked Hubby to hold up on the deck.  This pattern was from Pat Speth. As you can see we already have had ou...

Third Saturday

Image
Third saturday club is this weekend, so I was scurring to get my mystery blocks done. I have them all put together to show you....                                 This is my row of 15 geese.                                         Outdoors pic                                             Indoors pic Most o the print fabric is Jo Morton's, as the rest o the blocks will be too!  I recently received my copy of "Quiltmania" in the mail, and wasn't interested in most of it. However even though Jen Kingwell is doing a mystery thru them, I did like one of the blocks she did in it. So I copied the one page directions for myself and gave the magazine in tack to someone else. I then we...

A Few Finishes

Image
I have finally finished the fifth grey quilt for my grand-daughter's quilt ladder!  It was a pattern from Edyta Sitar named " Sweet Blend". I then went to some of my scraps and leftover blocks to see what I could do to lower the piles. I decided on place mats for meals on wheels program.  So over the last few snowy ,cold days; I finished ten place mats. I really didn't want to go out if I didn't have to.  I also finished my second row of geese for the mystery in my 3rd Saturday group. And the larger star block that was needed! Hoping for some nicer weather for The Shortest Shop Hop that is this Friday and Saturday! Don't forget to visit Colorz quilt shop and Country Fabrics !!! Chatter later , Martha.

Keeping Warm

With the last of the fat quarter bundle that I made the "Lisa's Flowers" quilt with , I decided to use up and not just cut up! So I started a spool quilt..... Spool quilt Lisa's Flowers I finished February"s Guild mystery quilt blocks.                                   I have also worked on the mystery from Third Saturday group. We met this past Saturday and were given the clues from Brenda Peterson. I have finished only one of the flying geese bands. But one is better than none!  All for now, chatter later, keep warm, Martha.

Preoccupied

Sorry I have been a bit preoccupied with other things. For those of you who have been inquisitive, my  husband came thru his surgery just fine . He is on the mend! Praise God for that! I have been working on my grey quilts for my granddaughter and have progressed quite nicely I think.  60" x 60" This is a nice scrappy quilt that used 2 charm packs of a Jen Kingwell fabric line and 10 fat quarters of grey fabric. I used remaining grey fabric on the backing. I have taken it to the quilter's a few weeks ago. It went together quite quickly. I got back my quilt project from Connie for the Habitat for Humanity. And asked Connie to give it at last guild meeting ,after I had bound it and put a label on it. I then proceeded on to work on my grey quilts. Making these swans from an Elizabeth Hartman 's "Swans" pattern. But I decided to do my own setting with just these nine blocks. Sarah wants quilts on the smaller side, mor...
