Before the New Year

Image
Did a bit of sewing on a couple of purses! Something new to my repertoire , and I have been enjoying practicing. Sometimes I do make mistakes and a seam ripper is involved. My daughter liked the purse that I made her daughter and asked if I would make her one. This was her daughter's.... So I have her's finished....  but   it is black and white checks. I forgot to take pics but didn't forget when I did the second one from the same material... this one is a little larger and pattern is called "Redwood Tote" by Noodlehead. It has a re-inforced bottom.  Hope you enjoy a safe and happy new year! Martha

Last of Christmas Sewing!!!!

Image
I just came out of my sewing room finishing my last two projects! Off to the post office after this post. I finished a few more coin purses.... Then I finished what the pattern called "A Lunch Tote".... Made from a few musical themed fabrics Finished a small triangle hand purse.... Then a little larger tote.... with elephants ,zebras, and giraffes and crocodiles! My last project was two casserole carriers. I made my Friday deadlines, so I am pleased. All for now, Martha.

Packages Sent!

Image
I sent my daughter one of the quilts that I have finished. I also sent a package to my grand daughter with the first purse I've ever made!  The pattern was Lexi Carryall by Laz y Girl Designs. I highly recommend it for first timers or beginning bag makers! I will be doing this pattern again! All for now, I'll check  back later, Martha.

Christmas Is Coming

Image
In the blink of an eye , Christmas will be here! So I  have shut myself off in my sewing room. Having 12 inches of snow dumped on your driveway doesn't hurt either.  I have made three change purses.... Two bowl warmers for the microwave.... Three  holiday aprons....     Six   matching pot holders or trivets I am also making a couple of teal Christmas ones .... First the square layers  all put together. Then sewn in diagonal lines down the layers.... Then trimmed in a circle and bias binding added! I do hand sew down the binding to the backing. Three Diva Wallets.... A Santa sack for the coal bucket near my front door, It actually sits outside. I left the stuffing in the plastic bag so it wouldn't get wet.

Daughter Called

Image
My daughter called and asked if I would make her a couple of quilts! Of course I said yes, I love sharing my quilting with her. She  found a block she liked on pinterest in black, greys and white. I drew out my pattern on graph and began piecing until I got this.... and I found the most perfect soft snuggle backing.... So I now just have to take it to the quilter! I have also put up a small Christmas tree in the living room. I finished a small churn dash quilt of Fig Tree fabrics that I started at retreat in the beginning of November. I also finished my candle in the window log cabin quilt.... I started a few circle  blocks. I am going to use various blue backgrounds with my Kaffe and Tula scraps. All for now, chatter later, Martha.

Guild Held Log Cabin Class

Image
Our guild held a log cabin class taught by Linda Augenbright this past week. We had our choice  of doing either a 2" or 2 1/2" wide logs.  So I decided to use 2 1/2", a batik  jelly roll by Laundry Basket to be exact. I used my scrappy light colors from my saved scraps. I also decided to applique 3 birds on it too! Three blue birds to represent, father, son, and holy spirit. At least that is what I think of when I see it.                                      Before applique added.                                    After applique added. I also got my mystery quilt from Guild bound  and will be giving it away today. It was a nice day yesterday, so I asked Hubby to hold up on the deck.  This pattern was from Pat Speth. As you can see we already have had our first snow , last week.  I will be going to St. Cloud next week looking for this bread in their Aldi  store.  Great for those Keto people or those counting carbs! Chatter later, Mart
