sew what's new?

Today is a cool cloudy day and reminds me fall is on its way.  The kids here have gone back to school so the streets are kind of quiet. I finished my August BOM  from Aurifil just in time to get the next one!  So here are pics of August's finished and September's prepared to do! I printed off my Pam Buda blocks  of the week, from Heartspun Quilts. I immediately sewed those up and put them with the others; but not before taking a pic to show you. I also thought i had better start my Raspberry Rabbits August block before she gives us September's on the 15th.  So this is it prepared to embroider. My Kansas Trouble club meets the 15th and I need to do my center medallion , so I got the pieces cut to sew tomorrow. Must go do a little housework before huibby wakes up,chit chat later, Martha

When my hubby wakes up tonight before he toddles off to work , he gets a piece of this.  He found the recipe himself and gave it to me about March. Well I finally made it for him. So simple. I purchased an angel food cake and cut in half horizantally (recipe said thirds, but have you ever tried to get a clean cut on angel food?)  Took small package(3.4 oz) of vanilla pudding (just the powder) and mixed it with one can of crushed pineapple and the juice (do not drain). Then take 8oz. cool whip and mix in. Spread this in between layers and on top. Refridgerate for at least one hour. I did sample the frosting. Gooooooood!! I finished my Raspberry Rabbits block for April. And then I prepped a blue work pattern from Bird Brain Designs for hand work at night.  It is called Snow Happens! I use the printable fabric solvy on top so that I don't need to transfer the design.  Just copy design on your printer. It washes away with warm water and then just dry and...

For any of you that might be finishing up your anniversary quilt from Temecula , A friend of mine from Illinois and I both ran into same problem with measurements of corner triangles and setting triangles.  Instead of 7 1/2"  square cut triangle cut twice for setting triangle, I  ended up using them for the corner triangles. For the  setting triangles I used 8 1/2"  square cut twice diagonally .  I think they forgot that the 4 1/2"  blocks have 1 1/2"  sashing on each side.  Could be just my mistake but I don't think so.  Tell me if you had same problem of triangles being to small.  I had not finished block four and five so I will show you now. block 4                                              ...

Not only will you be celebrating St. Patrick's Day but also National Quilting Day!!! How will you celebrate?   I have a Kansas Troubles Club meeting to attend and I work for four hours in a quilt shop.  Wooo Hooo!! I have finished block # 3 in the Moments of Provence bom. Hope everyone is safe and sound.  Here in central Minnesota we only had 5-6 inches of snow compared to the 14 inches they were predicting.  My mother lives about 30 miles from Harrisburg , Illinois where they had tornados.  Thankfully she is safe.  I put my January  and February Raspberry Rabbits together.  This is small basket quilt with green baskets . I am thinking about putting buttons on it.  I  will try and quilt it tomorrow.  Did  block # 19 and now ready for 20 and 21 which downloaded today.  http://temeculaquiltcompany.blogspot.com has a free block of the week starting today and each thursday of the month of March.  Stop and take a look. Getting there is half the fun.  The process , that is , the learning process. I do enjoy the challenges and the experiences.  Sewing can be an adventure just like life!  Until Just Takes 2   I had not attempted much paper pieceing ; They seem to prefer it.  I have noticed that I am getting much faster at it.  Here are two more blocks. I have finished my mystery blocks for February. I also have my free bom from Raspberry Rabbit    laid out and stitching started. Today I go to my Stitch Therapy class and bring my five flower  blocks to show .  There are 16 all together to do.  I enjoy getting together and seeing what they have accomplished too!  Everyone has a different vision for the same pattern and it is remarkable.  Love all the different thoughts and ways they bring out thier ideas in cloth.  Keep plugging away out there, the more you do the better you get!  Life nor stitching does not always go accord...

 FOR MANY YEARS I DID NOT SEW FOR FUN BUT OF NECESSITY.  NOW IT IS CLEARLY FOR THE PURE JOY OF IT, AT LEAST THESE LAST FEW YEARS.  I HAVE ALWAYS HAD ONE CREATIVE OUTLET OR ANOTHER, AND  NOW IT IS TIME TO PACK UP SOME CRAFTS THAT I DO NOT DO ANYMORE.  SO I HAVE BEEN SAVING UP BOXES TO MOVE SOME IT TO MY DAUGHTER'S HOME.  I HAVE DECIDED THAT THE SHELVING THAT HOUSES THE CARDSTOCK WOULD BE BETTER USED TO STORE FABRIC!  MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS DO SCRAPBOOKING SO THEY WILL HAVE A USE FOR IT.  I TOLD HER SOME OF IT IS STILL IN THE PACKAGE AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A SMALL AMOUNT THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT.  I DID CARDMAKING FOR 15 YEARS AND JUST HAVEN'T DONE IT  SINCE MOVING TO MINNESOTA.
