sew what's new?

I have been working on a few little things , one of which I have just finished and am dying to show you. It is a small wool applique in a 14" square frame. It has sparkling  red swakorski crystals in the wreath and tree. I have also been working on a lap quilt using the fabric line called "Silver Linings" . The pattern is called "Hugs and Kisses" by Julie Herman  of Jaybird Quilts. I still have one more row of twenty 6 1/2" blocks to go. I am going to do a few more than that to add to the backing fabric. I had been working on a pattern by Edyta Sitar  with gingerbread men, but I will have to start all over with that one..... After I put it in the washer on delicate cycle to let the wash a way paper melt away ,so did the seams. It was linen and I did not zig zag the edges. I also used hot water and it shrunk. Totally my fault and I am starting all over again. Talk with you later, Martha.

I promised that I would share my "Barn Stars" with you today and I will.  I have it quilted and binding sewn to front , but will hand  sew on to the back while watching tv. I sent my brother a birthday gift as his birthday was Feb. 14th,yes Valentine's Day!  I thought he deserved something red and hot ,so I sent him this... No football being shown nor taped! But I did get ready another block from my "Wooly Critter Sampler" by Brandywine Designs, to be stitched while watching Downton Abbey.... I also made my block for January, from Sewing with Pat Sloan. It is made from a layer cake of "Honeysweet" from Fig Tree.... I am now ready for February's block! I have also quilted and bound a mini quilt "Science Fair" by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts.... I had a lot of fun doing this! Enjoy your game , will chatter with you later!

I have finished my "night Sky " quilt , pattern by Julie Herman of JayBird Quilts. These are three  different pics, I am trying to get used to this new camera. I am not doing very well, sorry.  I have the back pieced and the black batt ready to go. So maybe Tuesday I will get to take it to the quilter. I finished the last two blocks from Jenni from the woolen willow blog (Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine). With fall in the eminent future we will all have more sewing time. I now have the last five blocks finished..... So now I must take each block and add a row of black around it, to make more space between each star once they are joined.   So stay tuned , there will be a finish. Next week is a busy one at the store, many things going on. Martha.

I have five more blocks finished for my "Night Sky" quilt to share with you... So I am now closer to my goal and I have today off of work so I might get a few things finished so I will be talking to ya later!  Martha.

I have been working on my "Night Sky" ,pattern by  Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts. I have  six blocks  which I still have in two pieces. Here are the pics... So now I am up to ten blocks, halfway to the twenty needed for lap quilt.  I also finished two additional alternate blocks for my "Sunflower Gatherings" quilt by Primitive Gatherings Summer Block of the Week.  One of the things I purchased at the" Quilt Merchant" quilt store was a kit for a sampler of english paper piecing. I think I am going to put this on hold until after I finish  "Sunflower Gatherings".  I also added to my pre-cuts by purchasing two of the min charm packs...... I have been trying to play catch up since vacation and I have just started making progress! PineTree Patchworkers guild's block exchange is done for June..... I also have three of the twenty stars needed for Julie Herman's (Jaybird Quilts)" Night Sky "pattern. I have also finished the freebie  for Primitive Gatherings 10th Anniversary. While away I also recieved the first two blocks of their summer block of the week. I just started cutting it out today,so I am still a little behind. But it is all good because that just means you will being hearing more from me. Chatter later , Martha.

I got a couple of small quilts back from Rebecca Annakala, who quilts for the store. One was a baby quilt made from Julie Herman's "Science Fair". It took one half a jelly roll and one yard of backround fabric , for the top. The other is called "Something Blue" By Pam Buda. I also did some work on my applique quilt from  Jan/ Feb issue of Quiltmania magazine. I counted my pitchers and found out I only have 35 and I need 42. So I am preparing the last 7 blocks.  Tomorrow I go to the Aitkin Guild meeting so goodnight to all, Martha.

Yes I am still out here and have not left the planet!  Just been a little busy. I had a Prairie Women's Sewing circle meeting last Tuesday and I remembered my camera. So I thought I would share with you some of the show 'n' tell that was brought. Sharon Nelson shared her start of the first quilt  of Journey 5.  Sharon Livingston tried to hide when she showed  her version of "Rock Candy" by Julie Herman . She moved pretty fast! This is a 1600 quilt from a jelly roll by Linda Arganbright. This is Mary Theurer with her finished candle mat  from my beginning wool applique class. This is Dawn Leitch with her small quilt. Sooo cuuuute! I prepared the last nine blocks for applique and finished sewing them to the backgrounds. So now all I need to do is to put together the broken dishes blocks.  I have three quilts that I need to bind and then I can show you next time. So chatter later, Martha.
