Whirlwind!

Image
I have been in a whirlwind these past ten days ! I have been swept away with many projects!  First of all the Crow Wing County fair was last week. I entered my  "Wooly Critters" quilt and won best of show,so I am happy about that. We are still in the midst of the Minnesota shop which lasts until this Sunday, the 16th.  And we had our meeting of our Simple Whatnots last tuesday and we had some show and tell also from it! Linda Johnson brought us this beauty to share! Ann manly brought in this lovely which also is a Kim Diehl pattern! And then Lorna Weins won the door prize this meeting... I hope to finish this today and take it back to work. Also I don't know if any of you readers have heard of the third book of Laurie  Hird called "Farmer's Wife, 1930's"  . There are 99 new block patterns which are totally different than her second book "Farmer's Wife". But there are two online groups, one is with ...

Gypsy Wife

Image
My Gypsy Wife seams to be moving along, as I have blocks #2 , #3 , #4 finished and ready to show you! #4 #3 #2 I also have a new pic with hubby's help of my Wooly Critter Sampler.... I still have to bind it. I am using the light blue from the inner border to bind it. When that is finished I will try to take a pic without shadows. chit chat more later, Martha.

Preview Of Things To Come

Image
I have a short preview of some things to come.... I have been making placemats with roosters on them. My first block of "Gypsy Wife" by Jen Kingwell , Country Threads is also doing a sew a long on this. This is my Wooly Critters quilt by Brandywine Designs back from the quilters. I still have to bind it. I did not have anyone around to help hold up the quilt for me to take a pic, so after it is bound I will take another pic for you. Chatter more later, Minnesota shop hop starts next week, might get a little busy!

Something New

Image
I have started something new, with a little handwork involved. I finished my "Wooly Critters" and took it to quilter. I do not expect it back until August. Again with so much going on here (two big quilt shows and county fairs) lucky to get it then! Pic of partial done. I am in Moosebay Muses(a.k.a., Karen Martin's) Stitch  Therapy group. We are doing Pam Curo's "Sophie's Garden" I have been following Karen's special tips and got myself a notebook with sleeves as to store directions and block pieces. I have finished my log cabin blocks,my sawtooth star blocks and my spool blocks. I have also finished my 52 half square triangles. I have one block with applique on it started. It has both wool and cotton velvet on it. Have not decided whether or not I like the cotton velvet or not. I may end up taking it off. I like the feel , not so much the look..... There will be more chatter on this later, marth...

Another Finish

Image
I finished "Honeycomb" and made a sleeve for it so I might hang it on a small frame. This is one time I used  Heritage Hollow to back it also. I quilted it with a serpentine stitch from my machine that had been elongated.  I also used a variegated Signature thread , that went from muslin to chartreuse green.   I have not put aside my "Critter Sampler", I am still working on it at night. I have just prepared some more of the wool pieces ,so that I might put them on today. I have a pic of my status so far...... I am so happy that I can see the end of it all, because I so want to start my stitch therapy quilt, "Sophie's Garden".  Chatter later,Martha.

A Little Closer

Image
I am a little closer to finishing my "Wooly Critter Sampler" quilt. I still have one block to finish and the border applique to prepare and sew down. But thought I would share some pictures of my progress so far... With small light blue border. I have applique group tomorrow, perhaps I will have more to show you then. Martha

Life can be Hectic

Image
We all have periods where we are bored and life seems to be either on pause  or definetly on slow  motion. Right now mine seems to be on fast forward and with some glitches. I make a docter's appt. a month in advance and then two days before the doc cancels.  I make an appt. for taxes and they cancel me too!  In other words I wish to move along at  a faster pace but no one seems to be accomodating. Such is life..... I have finished another Kim Diehl pattern "Village Square". I have a couple of picsfor you....                                           Bound and quilted. I finished my turtle block of "Wooly Critter Sampler". I have prepared two more blocks for stitching at night also. I also recently got back my flannel quilt from the quilter's (Laura Shogren) quilted this one.   only 1/3 of the quilt I have the bind...

Friday Applique and Other Things

Image
We were a small group that met Friday, but we more than made up with enthusiasm!  Linda Johnson  preparing her Lori Smith pattern. Sherry Falink working on her wool hexies. Paula Murrey working on her Dear Jane. We also had a couple of guests sit in for a while and enjoy our company.... I have started a new Kim Diehl quilt called " Village Square".  It has some applique on it and some churn dash blocks. I was working on the applique during our group.  I have squared up what blocks I have finished on my " Wooly Critter Sampler "  quilt and put some of the sashing on.  I am now working on block #9. I put some beads in the centers of the flowers instead of french knots.  Chatter with you later, Martha.
