sew what's new?

Might just make you forget about them. Oh well, been busy,been working. Every now and then you have to do something with Mr. Sew and keep him happy. Sometimes every day chores get pushed aside and you have to catch up! I finished Pam Buda's blocks and decided to add a border to it.  I then took it to a friend and asked her to quilt it for me. So here it is unfinished. I got my Remembrance quilt back from the quilter's and it was done in a meander so that the pictures would be able to be seen. I bound it in a crackle red fabric. Here is a pic of the back.  I would also like to give you a couple of pics of my special quilt label done with thread sketching and the sewing machine. Feed dogs down ,  black thread in upper and lower , fabric in hoop with drawn pic on wash-a-way stabilizer. I used a linen to sew on.  Haven't sewn it down yet. I work four days this week so might not chit chat to much, but take care and get to your sewing machin...

Well it is finally got its borders and I have sewn it's back together!!! Now it is off to the quilter's I go tomorrow!  We will talk to you later,Martha

Worked today on my Remembrance quilt by Carol Hopkins.I got two rows put together out of the five. I do have another row ready to be added to other two, but had to do a few other things today also. I have my last Temecula Quilt  Co. block done also. There were some pics that I did not post concerning The Wizard of Oz . This is the carridge that took scarecrow,tin man, lion and Dorothy to get cleaned up and presentable for the Wizard. It was also owned ,  at one time by President Abe Lincoln. That's the tin man, oh! I mean my hubby who took me shop hopping! The real ruby slippers were stolen a few years back and never found, at least as yet. There were actually three pair used in the film ; one in the Smithsoneum Museum and one in a private collection.  Somewhere out there a stolen pair!  Chatter at you later, Martha.

On the block of the week I am working on we are in week six of a twelve week program. Here is my block six! I have also finished two more blocks for my Remembrance quilt  for you to view. My son and his family will be coming for a visit this sunday. I will be doing some housework, dusting mopping floors and vaccuming.  It will be my youngest granddaughter's tenth birthday at the end of July. So I might have to get some ice cream and cake too! After thier visit comes the county fair and then the Minnesota shop hop! So the next few weeks will be  busy . All for now , must read the directions on that feather duster!  HA HA! Martha

Well Temecula Quilt company has started a new little quilt ;  last friday was its debut!  It goes for six weeks. It is stars with different centers. Pam Buda had one a couple of months back and is supposede to show pics of everyone's later this month.  Here's my first block.  www.temeculaquiltco.com I finished my July block for the Aurifil Buzz. I have also completed two more blocks for my Remembrance quilt by Carol Hopkins. Not to hot and not too cold today. Thank heaven no more rain, at least yet. Chatter later,martha.

Yes Miss Mary Ann , my friend, is at it again !! I received a box from the postman today from her which I was expecting ,  just not everything else that was inside!! this rick rack  and this !! Still more came out of the box! These are a couple of small quilt kits. Oh my. Surprise , surprise , surprise! Isn't that what Gomer Pyle always said. That is for all of you who know who he was.  I did finish 3 blocks for my Remembrance quilt. Talk a little more tomorrow, have a good weekend, Martha.

This is the second week of buck blocks. One block , one buck, one week . Easy peasy! My block-- I also finished five blocks of my Remembrance quilt. Still working on binding for Alice in Wonderland quilt.   Martha

Well I finished the Snow Happens table runner by Bird Brain .   It is bound and quilted. I also finished three more blocks for  my Remembrance quilt. I also went to Pequot to pick up a quilt from Mary Hammer , my quilter. That  is the face of creativeity !!  It is in her smile and what she does.  She finished my redwork Alice In Wonderland quilt .  I have decided to round the corners and bind with the red  batik ,not the red 3o's fabric. Whenever Alice had big changes in her life (dad dieing and marriage to someone she did not love)  she retreated to Wonderland until she battled thru the crisis in her heart and mind. When she then,  could live with the decisions  or comprimises,  she must make to move forward in her life (both old and new combined) . So the binding will be mostly batik with a splash of the old 30's in the mix. When I finish binding I will show you the back!!! If...

I have been embroidering  a pattern from Bird Brain patters  that is done in blue work. And I have learned something new along the way. Which is a good thing and a bad thing. Anyway I have known for most of my sewing life  that red and black can have a color run. However I was not aware that blue could run. So I will be washing my project again after it is quilted with a color catcher. If I would have read my directions a bit more careful before hand I would have known to soak my blue thread in vinegar and water to stabilize it.  So as you looke at these pics you will see some dark spots and know this will come out.  Snow Happens I have also finished three more blocks for my Remembrance quilt. So that makes five finished.  When I finish my runner I will show another pic. Enjoy your day, it will never come again.
