We had our last meeting of the Prairie Women's Sewing Circle  on tuesday the 5th. It was a very nice meeting with a lot of show and tell. I tried to keep up with pics so that I might share with you. These are very old blocks from the 20's or thirties and were recently put together by Bunny Witt. That is Colleen Both holding one side of the Sunbonnet Sue quilt. This is a first meeting project of Prairie Women by Dawn Leitch. This is also a first session project from Dawn. This project is from the present session (#5 gathering) from Dawn. I have been rushing to get a quilt top finished .  I would like to have it basted by the Tuesday Morning Quilt group from our guild. They are some very busy ladies who meet at a local church and once a month they baste your quilt for the token of a pastry gift to go with their coffee. Although they have now changed their meeting date to the monday after our guild meeting. So maybe they will have to change their name also!  I also exchanged days I work so that I could get there.  I finished putting the top together last night and have just to iron the back and I will be finished. So I will show you some pictures of the progression of work...... The blocks are taupes, greys and browns, and the embroidered blocks are made with a varigated brown thread. I don't think you can tell from the pic ,but their is a small pink/brown flange in the small dark brown border.  This pink/brown fabric will eventually be the binding.  I want it basted so that I m...

We had our Prairie Women's Sewing Circle meeting last Tuesday and I wanted to share some pics with you.    Linda Johnson made this lovely table runner!   Paula Murray showing her Wish quilt block she has finished.   And some of the Dear Jane blocks she has designed herself! Mary Theurer had this Tee Shirt she made for a friend's son. And she finished her applique on her Carolina Lilly quilt. Bonnie Witt is holding up a purse that Sharon Nelson made! Along with a pot holder and small wall hanging she whipped up! Can you also see the little x tool block quilt!  Just the size of a small mug rug! Too cute! Very busy women! Beth Fabian also had a cute small quilt. I  have a pic of a quilt I just took to  Rebecca Anakala To have quilted, it is an elongated hexagon quilt. All for now , chatter later,Martha.

First of all I finished another embroidered block and have it to show you.... I have also finished another small quilt from Pam Buda's Journey five , just needs to be quilted, as it is a flimsy at the moment. I used up some 10" squares of Kansas Troubles to piece a backing for this .... We had some beautiful show and tell from our  Prairie Women Sewing Circle group. Just awesome! Gotta hurry on this one, something green to celebrate the month of March! Made from scraps, a four patch with foldy corners on three sides. and green scraps that  measure 2 1/2 " squares. The  light backround squares that you make foldy corners with are 1 1/2 " squares. I made three 4 patch blocks for each shamrock.The fourth lite backround  4 1/2 " square  has a green stem is appliqued diagonally and a foldy 3" square added to bottom  to edge finish the stem.  I sewed four blocks together and put a 3" border around ( that only took 2 - 3" wof strips. Now I need to layer and quilt and bind. No formal pattern , just drew on graph paper. I have been planning on what block to do for the block exchange with Brenda Peterson's group of ladies. And I finally choose Cake Stand   I made a total of thirteen blocks and I  am adding a few finishing touches of my own.  Like adding a bird in the lower corner. Also a flower with two ...
