What's Up

Image
More Doctor visits than anything in the sewing room. Working on my blocks for Mystery Quilt for our third saturday group still.  I needed 84  four patch blocks. I have about 90 done. I am using black as my background color.... I then started to make fabric as Victoria Findley Wolfe puts it. Amanda Jean Nyberg says its sewing slabs together.... I then sew up my 4 1/2" half square triangles. I haven't gotten them put together yet, will write again once I do. I have gotten two of my quilts back from quilter's. They are from my 2 1/2" strip bin. The first is from quilter, Susan Gordon and is bound and has a label on. The second has a label on and has been quilted by Karl Muller. I haven't had time to make binding yet but it is trimmed. It also has a pieced backing of flannel and corduroy.  I will be finishing this off next. I still have two other quilts out to be quilted. So happy to see snow melting , hope this continues, ...

Retreat

This past week I have been enjoying myself at Craft Camp in Pillager, Minnesota. I had a great time! Enjoyed the people, food, and the sewing time! I brought my 2 1/2" strips, thinking that I would try and get rid of as much as I could. I also brought about 20 patterns for 2 1/2" strips. Here's a pic of the first quilt top.... The second quilt top.... I also did a test block for a charm square pattern that I intend on  using for  a lap quilt ....  A butterfly block! I had three blocks leftover from the first quilt top. I intend to use them as Charity quilts for stillborns. I just need to put extra borders on to make them a little larger... I have two of these ! I also finished the first month of my Mystery Quilt from my Third Saturday group today... Chatter later, Martha.

Ready!

I'm all ready for next Saturday's third Saturday Club! Finished my blocks for the mystery and here they are..... So now I'm on to other things, I am going out for my daily walk. But before I do I took a picture of my roses for you to enjoy! Chatter later, Martha.

Third Saturday

Image
Third saturday club is this weekend, so I was scurring to get my mystery blocks done. I have them all put together to show you....                                 This is my row of 15 geese.                                         Outdoors pic                                             Indoors pic Most o the print fabric is Jo Morton's, as the rest o the blocks will be too!  I recently received my copy of "Quiltmania" in the mail, and wasn't interested in most of it. However even though Jen Kingwell is doing a mystery thru them, I did like one of the blocks she did in it. So I copied the one page directions for myself and gave the magazine in tack to someone else. I then we...

No Excuses

Image
I have no excuses for not posting sooner , just laziness I guess.  I have taken a class from Pat Speth who has written about six books on nickel quilts, or charm squares. I have two of her books and made sure I got her to sign them for me. I thoroughly enjoyed her trunk show and class the next day. We worked on  mystery block together..... I will show you  picture of my Jacob's Ladder blocks when I get a few more made. I have also  finished my two blocks for the donation in the name of Maureen Busaker , who passed away from colon cancer. When all the blocks are done and put together the quilt will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. I love the look of this Carolina Lilly block. So pretty! I found this so soft flannel and bought two yards and cut on the fold. I then proceeded to pull threads and create the fringe on all sides. So I now have two soft winter scarves to use as gifts. I have also made these three canvas gift bags...

Thought I would share the wall hanging I donated to the Mustard  Seed in Deerwood, MN.   It is my color wash  with a wool cross and crown in the center. I have also finished my blocks for Third Saturday Sewing Group. When put together they are to large for one picture , so I folded in half and took two pictures.                                                      This is one block. Next my two pics......   We already have snow on the ground!  The next six months are going to be cold! Chatter later, Martha.

This and That

I just finished my sewing for tomorrow's Third Saturday Club , nothing like last minute but it is done! I have also gotten a little further on my Lori Holt "Autumn Love" quilt. I have the two stars on the ends finished and sashing put on. More stars are on the agenda for this week. I also picked up the blue, yellow and grey quilt and have it bound , I will probably drop it off next Tuesday  for the church to give sick ,cancer patients, and those in need. Now  a few close-ups of the quilting .... All for now, will check in later, Martha.
