sew what's new?

I was picking up my sewing room and moving a few pieces of furniture around. I found some bright diamonds of batiks leftover from a quilt that I made for my brother two years ago. I couldn't just throw them out .So I made a table runner. I added some applique with Cherrywood and wool. Haven't got all the wool sewn down yet, but thought I would share anyway...... This is one end of the runner. This is the other. I will share again when finished, Martha.

I have some pics of small quilts that finish off at 28 1/2" square. Both are primarily the same except for the inner 12 1/2 ". One has an applique center and the other is totally half square triangles. Both are made from "Vintage Farmhouse " line of fabric designed by Kim Diehl. Have a look.... These quilts are made with a lot of foldy corners,  so now thrifty person I am, I have a bag of around 200 half square triangles that need to be squared off...... I am thinking a table runner, after all it is a freebie! We'll see, chatter with you later, Martha.

I MUST GIVE CREDIT TO MICKEY SMITH  FOR TEACHING ME THIS TECNIQUE OF PUTTING THIS BLOCK TOGETHER.  I TOOK A CLASS FROM HER AND ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY.      THESE BLOCKS ARE MADE FROM  5" CHARM SQUARE BLOCKS.   THE BLOCKS ABOVE ARE MADE FROM CIVIL WAR REUNION   BY BARBARA  BRACKMAN.   SO SORRY THAT I HAVE BEEN SPELLING YOUR NAME WRONG THE LAST FEW POSTS, BARBARA!!  ALWAYS USE A 1/4" SEAM LINE AND LIKE WHEN DOING MINATURES LOWER YOUR STRAIGHT STITCH LENGTH TO AT LEAST A 2 OR BELOW.  WITH THIS BLOCK IT IS BEST TO PRESS ALL SEAMS OPEN AS YOU GO. TO MAKE THE FIRST CUT YOU MUST LAY TWO SQUARES ON TOP OF EACH OTHER AND PLACE YOUR RULER 1/2" OFF TO THE SIDE  THE DIAGONAL AND THEN CUT.  THEN  PROCEED TO CUT 1/2 "ON  THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SAME DIAGONAL. THEN PROCEED ON THE OTHER DIAGONAL SLOPE ,  1/2" AWAY ;  ON BOTH SIDES.    SO THEN YOUR CHARM SQUARES WILL LOOK LIKE THIS! TA...
