sew what's new?

Got this one quilted by a friend who did it in double time. She was fast! Was able to get it mailed off to my sister, she is the Wizard of OZ fan. Got some pics of the quilting, the pattern she used was called Dandelion. Hope you can see it in the minkee.... I put a stain on my quilt  ladder called rosewood. I sanded in between each coat of polyurethane. Then waited for it to dry. Mr. Sew What  carried it in and helped me place it. Then I filled it up. I also have another block prepared and ready to stitch.... Tomorrow I'll be traveling to Duluth for the Minnesota Quilt Show. I will try to remember my camera and take a few pictures. Last time I showed a couple of blocks of my "Wizard of Oz" quilt. It is going to be a gift quilt, but I was not liking it!  Then I came to terms that I did not have to like it!  But it was a quick quilt to go together. First pic is with the final borders not on yet. This next pic is with the borders on. I like the quilt top much better with the borders. It has a blue gingham border all around ,except the poppies are only one the one side. I have almost finished another block from my "Sophie's Garden" quilt..... Just need to stitch around the flowers. I also got the binding sewn down on my taupe embroidery quilt which Rebecca Annakkala quilted for me. I am going to link up with Slow Stitching Sunday for this post. I have a pile of quilts that have been quilted for about a year. Today while I am watching Game of Thrones ,I thought I might get rid of at least one.   It is about 70" square and all taupes. There are 9 blocks of embroidery on it also.  Here are some pics.... I used a varigated embroidery thread. My lilac bush smells so lovely every time I go outside to take pics.  Really more of a tree, that my neighbor and I share. I have also started another lap size quilt useing Wizard of OZ fabrics. Only a couple of blocks finished. Chatter later, Martha.

Worked today on my Remembrance quilt by Carol Hopkins.I got two rows put together out of the five. I do have another row ready to be added to other two, but had to do a few other things today also. I have my last Temecula Quilt  Co. block done also. There were some pics that I did not post concerning The Wizard of Oz . This is the carridge that took scarecrow,tin man, lion and Dorothy to get cleaned up and presentable for the Wizard. It was also owned ,  at one time by President Abe Lincoln. That's the tin man, oh! I mean my hubby who took me shop hopping! The real ruby slippers were stolen a few years back and never found, at least as yet. There were actually three pair used in the film ; one in the Smithsoneum Museum and one in a private collection.  Somewhere out there a stolen pair!  Chatter at you later, Martha.
