Two Nice Days In A Row!

Image
Today and yesterday have been  fantastic weather-wise , hope you are sharing this also! Mr. Sew What is out fishing for the day ,leaving me at home to do some more finishing up of projects. Hurrah!  I have put the binding on a third quilt and have it to show.... It is a Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts pattern. And a quick peek of the scrappy back in Lynn 's Kansas Troubles fabric . After all they are close friends. See it is labeled and ready ready for Prairie Women's Sewing Circle. I have also finished one more top that I was working on. I just need to get it quilted.... I have put the binding on the front of another quilt but have yet to sew it down, so I will show it to you next time.  Martha.

Fall Already?

Image
Today is a cool cloudy day and reminds me fall is on its way.  The kids here have gone back to school so the streets are kind of quiet. I finished my August BOM  from Aurifil just in time to get the next one!  So here are pics of August's finished and September's prepared to do! I printed off my Pam Buda blocks  of the week, from Heartspun Quilts. I immediately sewed those up and put them with the others; but not before taking a pic to show you. I also thought i had better start my Raspberry Rabbits August block before she gives us September's on the 15th.  So this is it prepared to embroider. My Kansas Trouble club meets the 15th and I need to do my center medallion , so I got the pieces cut to sew tomorrow. Must go do a little housework before huibby wakes up,chit chat later, Martha

More Shamrocks

Image
I finished doing handwork on the shamrock on my third block in Aurifil's block of the month. I then proceeded to quilt qnd put a small binding on my green basket quilt. I also sewed some stacked  yo yo's  with a button topper on two of the blocks. Now tonight I may sit in my chair and handsew back  down. I then proceeded to finish the basket top for my small quilt group that is on-line. It was made out of Kansas Troubles except for the beige polka dots  in backround of baskets. It is layered and waiting to be quilted. I will be traveling back home next month and I have a few birthday presents to make in the meantime.  So the next few weeks will definetly be busy .  Hang on to your seats, it will be a bumpy ride!  martha

Feeling a Bit Under theWeather

Image
Had our meeting of Kansas Troubles at one of the local quilt shops today. It was inspiring  and soul searching. By soul searching I find out more about myself  and my likes and dislikes.  Today's patterns are being streamlined to keep more people (young and old )  in the sewing loop , which is good in one respect.  But I find I value more of the traditional ways and visual pleasures of quilting. Not that I am an expert at them by any means.  However I do take pleasure in the effects of traditioal ways of doing things.  An example would be I like hand applique , does not mean I am any good at it .  But I appreciate it!  I am also of  a mind set the more one does of a thing the better you get.  In hopes that theory is true in its heart ,  I am trying , even though sometimes it defintely is not perfect.  So that being said here are two of the next JUST TAKES 2   blocks. Feeling a little under the weather I did not g...

NEW BEGINNINGS

Image
FOR MANY YEARS I DID NOT SEW FOR FUN BUT OF NECESSITY.  NOW IT IS CLEARLY FOR THE PURE JOY OF IT, AT LEAST THESE LAST FEW YEARS.  I HAVE ALWAYS HAD ONE CREATIVE OUTLET OR ANOTHER, AND  NOW IT IS TIME TO PACK UP SOME CRAFTS THAT I DO NOT DO ANYMORE.  SO I HAVE BEEN SAVING UP BOXES TO MOVE SOME IT TO MY DAUGHTER'S HOME.  I HAVE DECIDED THAT THE SHELVING THAT HOUSES THE CARDSTOCK WOULD BE BETTER USED TO STORE FABRIC!  MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS DO SCRAPBOOKING SO THEY WILL HAVE A USE FOR IT.  I TOLD HER SOME OF IT IS STILL IN THE PACKAGE AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A SMALL AMOUNT THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT.  I DID CARDMAKING FOR 15 YEARS AND JUST HAVEN'T DONE IT  SINCE MOVING TO MINNESOTA. I FEEL THIS IS A NEW BEGINNING FOR ME AND A NEW FIRST STEP. SO STAND BACK AND WATCH THE DUST FLY WHILE I CLEAN UP AND PACK AWAY  THIS HERE SEWING ROOM ,PARTNER! WHOO HA!!! THIS IS MY JANUARY BLOCK FROM THE RASPBERRY RABBIT AND IT IS FINISHED! T...
