A Little Here A Little There

Image
Since the last encounter I have done only small projects nothing major. I finished a tuffet pincushion using some of the fabrics gifted to me from my friend Wanda Hansen (e.k.a. exhuberantcolor.blogspot.com  ) I also made four mug rugs for my mom's tea party with her sisters. I embroidered a scene with  zombies on linen.... I made this cute open wide bag.... This small zippered tote with hexies... I have also been doing some other hexies from Jen Kingwell's Regent Street Lawns .  I will show you those when I get further along with them. With fall market there are going to be a lot of exciting things around the corner. Martha.

More Practise

Yes I need more practise and a few more samples to be made so you can see and experience of creative designing with prairie points!! Did not think I could get out that whole sentence.  Starting from two fabrics sewn together with 1/4 " seam and seam pressed open and flat.  Apply any tear-a-way water soluable stabilizer to back. of strip. (There are several out there) Mine came  in sheets of 9 x 12 .  I cut them 1 1/2 " wide so that I might only use them where I need it. Next I chose  a stitch on my machine That I thought did not have too many stitches in a small area  (no satin stitch) .  I then sewed down the middle  so that some stitching would be on both sides , in an emboidery thread that matches or contrasts. Tear off excess stabilizer .  Spray with Best Press    and cut off  1/4 " on the main color side. Then iron in half and make a prairie point as show in yesterday's post. These use a couple of different...

SEWING SOMETHING SWEET

FINISHED THE BINDING LAST NIGHT WHILE WATCHING BOARDWALK EMPIRE, LOVE THAT SHOW.  FINISHED MY BARBARA BRACKMAN BLOCK FROM SATURDAY. I THEN STARTED ON SOME CHRISTMAS MUG RUGS! I MADE MYSELF SOME CIRCLE TEMPLATES AND THEN CUT OUT MY CIRCLES. I MADE MY SWIRL TEMPLATES AND MARKED WHICH POINT WAS THE CENTER. DREW  ON HEAT N BOND, THE 3 PIECES NEEDED FOR EACH MUG RUG.  THEN IRONED ONTO BACK OF WHITE MATERIAL AND CUT OUT EACH WHITE PIECE.  PLACED EACH WHITE PIECE ONTO RED AND GREEN CIRCLES CAREFULLY SO CENTERS ARE JUST TOUCHING.  IF A LITTLE OFF ON EDGE YOU CAN ALWAYS TRIM IT OFF! I SATIN STITCHED DOWN THE WHITE RAW EDGES. I THEN MADE A SANDWICH OF TWO LAYERS OF BATTING AND ONE BACKING AND THE TOP. I DID USE A SOLID FABRIC BACKING. TO QUILT IT ,  I JUST FOLLOWED THE CURVE IN EACH  COLORED SECTION. ONCE QUILTED I ADDED BINDING. I WILL SEW  DOWN THAT ,  WHILE I WATCH WAREHOUSE 13 TONIGHT!  THESE ARE JUST BIG ENOUGH THAT ...
