Also a mug rug I also have a small quilt called "Mississippi Crossing" from Little Gatherings by lisa Bongean .   Also a pillow to go with it.... I have also been working on my stitch therapy project "Lisa's Flower garden. I am getting closer to the half way point. I just got a few more blocks ready for stitching... Check in with you later, Martha.

Stitch Therapy

Image
Monday stitch therapy meets. I have made a little progress on my blocks. I have made about 30 nine patch blocks in 3 shades of green and 3 shades of yellow. Five blocks of each shade. I have also prepared 8 of the wool applique blocks needed. I have only just started the embroidery on some. When finished they will be cut and resized to 5" square, the size of the 9 patch blocks. It is a good start, chatter with you later, Martha.

Tula Pink

The cathedral windows pattern was one she did not write up to  sell. This large motif of Elizabeth was one she had especially made for herself, not available for sale as yardage. Union Jack  pattern was a free one she found on the web or internet. These next four  pics are of her new backings. Very nice and funny young woman!   I went to my Stitch Therapy group yesterday and took a picture of Karen Martin's "Sophie's Garden" quilt she now has put together. All for now, purse class tomorrow. Must gather supplies and be ready, chatter later, Martha.

Mail Call

Image
Yesterday I went out to get the mail and got two surprises! One letter was a surprise because it was from my sister whom I am going to see in three weeks.  She gave my hubby a  bracelet, which he immediately put on. Second letter was from   Edyta Sitar   !  (aka- Laundry Basket Quilts). I had entered a challenge on her blog and did not know if I made the first 100 cut off .  Well apparently I did get included and received directions I also received a package of her silhouettes! We must design something with them ,we do not have to use them all and can add other things also. Then must send her a pic by May 1st.  This lit up my day, I was so tickeled that you could have painted me purple and wrapped me up in lights. Wow! Then I actually finished another block for Stitch Therapy Club. Life is full of surprises and most precious!  Have a great day! Martha

Busy Day?

Image
Slow in some spots and busy little bee in others. Doing house work , dishes,  laundry , making beds and such. I do have a washing machine and dryer.  I do have a dishwasher.  And i only have one bed to make ; so why do things take so long. It must be me ,  wanting to get to the fun part of sewing.  However my car needed a little attention today also. My husband had the fuse it needed for the cruise control.  We did have to make a trip out for the bulb for my license plate.   So I would like to show and share with you Block #5 for my stitch therapy group that I finished. I also prepared the pieces for Henrietta whiskers block # 9.  I placed them down and hopefully tonight I can begin sewing them down.  I also promised a friend I would try and make her some yo yo's.  I hope you all have a fun and productive weekend.  Delight in each breath you take.  martha

Getting There

Image
Getting there is half the fun.  The process , that is , the learning process. I do enjoy the challenges and the experiences.  Sewing can be an adventure just like life!  Until Just Takes 2   I had not attempted much paper pieceing ; They seem to prefer it.  I have noticed that I am getting much faster at it.  Here are two more blocks. I have finished my mystery blocks for February. I also have my free bom from Raspberry Rabbit    laid out and stitching started. Today I go to my Stitch Therapy class and bring my five flower  blocks to show .  There are 16 all together to do.  I enjoy getting together and seeing what they have accomplished too!  Everyone has a different vision for the same pattern and it is remarkable.  Love all the different thoughts and ways they bring out thier ideas in cloth.  Keep plugging away out there, the more you do the better you get!  Life nor stitching does not always go accord...

LIFE ALERT!

Image
IT SNOWED AGAIN TODAY; YOU KNOW THAT PESKY OLD MAN WINTER ISN'T GOING AWAY ANY TIME SOON.  YOU COULD ONLY SEE 1/2 A MILE DOWN THE RODE. I WAS GOING TO GO OUT AND TAKE THE GARBAGE CANS BACK UP TO THE HOUSE . GARBAGE DAY YOU KNOW.  WELL MY HUBBY SAYS I FOUND THE ONLY PATCH OF BLACK ICE ON OUR VERY LONG DRIVEWAY AND MANAGED TO FALL NOT ONLY ONCE BUT TWICE.  I WASN'T HURT BUT COULD NOT GET UP FOR THE ICE. HAD TO CRAWL OVER TO SIDE OF DRIVEWAY BOTH TIMES SO THAT I COULD GET A GRIP.  MY THOUGHTS WENT TO LIFE ALERT IMMEDIATELY!  MR. SEW WHAT SLEEPS DURING THE DAY AND NEIGHBORS ARE PRETTY FAR AWAY TO HEAR OR SEE ANYTHING. BUT I SURVIVED. I FINISHED BLOCK #3 AND HAVE BLOCK #4 COLORED IN TO BEGIN STITCHING ON. BLOCK#3 BLOCK#4 MY DAY IS NEVER COMPLETE UNTIL NEEDLE AND THREAD AND FABRIC MEET.  I AM GOING TO GO SOAK IN A TUB, I AM BEGINNING TO ACHE.  ALL FOR TONIGHT MARTHA

NEW BEGINNINGS

Image
FOR MANY YEARS I DID NOT SEW FOR FUN BUT OF NECESSITY.  NOW IT IS CLEARLY FOR THE PURE JOY OF IT, AT LEAST THESE LAST FEW YEARS.  I HAVE ALWAYS HAD ONE CREATIVE OUTLET OR ANOTHER, AND  NOW IT IS TIME TO PACK UP SOME CRAFTS THAT I DO NOT DO ANYMORE.  SO I HAVE BEEN SAVING UP BOXES TO MOVE SOME IT TO MY DAUGHTER'S HOME.  I HAVE DECIDED THAT THE SHELVING THAT HOUSES THE CARDSTOCK WOULD BE BETTER USED TO STORE FABRIC!  MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS DO SCRAPBOOKING SO THEY WILL HAVE A USE FOR IT.  I TOLD HER SOME OF IT IS STILL IN THE PACKAGE AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A SMALL AMOUNT THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT.  I DID CARDMAKING FOR 15 YEARS AND JUST HAVEN'T DONE IT  SINCE MOVING TO MINNESOTA. I FEEL THIS IS A NEW BEGINNING FOR ME AND A NEW FIRST STEP. SO STAND BACK AND WATCH THE DUST FLY WHILE I CLEAN UP AND PACK AWAY  THIS HERE SEWING ROOM ,PARTNER! WHOO HA!!! THIS IS MY JANUARY BLOCK FROM THE RASPBERRY RABBIT AND IT IS FINISHED! T...
