Remember my Ginger bread that came apart?  Well working on that again with number six in progress.... I was digging thru my stash and found an old Christmas  panel . I thought I would try and sew up all four parts to this and send to my daughter. I am currently working on the second part of this panel.... Part I Part II I am currently sewing down the binding on this one! I have block two of  My Enchanted Garden in place and have begun stitching it down..... Colorz  has an applique group that meets the third Friday each month  and is free to everyone who wants to come and stitch.  Here are some pics of friends who stopped in... Karen Martin working on her Buttermilk Basin blocks. Paula Murray working on her project. Twyla Parker working on her Christmas ornament. Arleene stopped by to chit chat. And what would a post be without a Farmer's Wife block. With the holidays coming we all have a lot on our plat...

So So Week

Image
This week has been a blah week. Not only with the weather, overcast and wet and cold. But also with the sewing. My Halloween embroidery quilt got finished. Take a look at the top right hand block. I used a yellow, orange and red  crayon to color in around the moon and witch. I was trying to mask the fact that when I washed out the transfer ease the thread bled . I used two different skeins of thread, so it did not happen with all the blocks, only two of them. I tried Synthropol and I also tried a color catcher. Neither helped. I ended up giving it to a friend for her to quilt for a charity or crisis quilt. I new every time I would look at it I would see The black wave of color. Just a close up of crayon work. Now a little bit of Farmer's wife to show off... Cherrywood #78 old maid This week I also went thru my yearly mammogram, everything fine. It is breast cancer awareness month.  I also had a colonoscopy, everything fine there also. Pleas...

Back From Vacation

I went back home to visit my kids and friends and went to a Mumaw family reunion.  When I came back I had to play catch up on Farmer's Wife 1930's .  So first I have pics of my Cherrywood blocks.... and now pictures of my 30's fabric... I have also been stitching some embroidery halloween  blocks... I have a total of nine blocks to do.  I won't finish this before halloween , but it will be ready for next year. I am also sewing down some binding on my Gypsy Wife quilt I got back from the quilter. I will chatter with you later, Martha.

Sorry For Leaving You Clueless

I blogged last time showing you blocks #12 and did not explain what they were about and for! I am joining the Farmer's Wife 1930's.  I am making it in two colorways!  One in 1930's fabric and one in Cherrywood hand dyed fabric. So I will show you all the blocks that have been given so far....    These are #12 Becky. #16 Bonnie #8 Aunt So for the next few weeks there will be 2 blocks given. I have been able to rotary cut  these few blocks. There are over 3600 people following this sew a long, see the badge at the side of this blog. Chit chat later. Martha.

Now To Put It Together

Image
I have finished the last block in "Sassy" and now there are like three borders (on the small side). First I must  sew the sashing strips on and then sew blocks together. I really like this one! I also completed Block #12 that was given to us on Sunday nite. I am doing two sets, one in 30's prints and the other in Cherrywood fabric. Mr. Sewwhat is making a noodle board for my daughter. We are going home to visit soon.  For those of you that do not know what a noodle board is, it sits on top of your stove and provides more counter space for working. (AKA-making noodles) But I think hers is going to be for hiding stove and more on the decorative side. There are two handles on the sides, so you are able to lift off of stove more easily. He is giving it some sort of aged and distressed look. Chit chat later, Martha.

More Filler Blocks III

I finally got a chance to get back to my "Gypsy Wife" ! I finished most of the square in a square blocks, but still have 23 left to go. I have also been working on my english paper piecing and made five more with just one more needing to be made.... I have also prepared some wool for night time sewing.... I got some more practise on the paper piecing for   " Farmer's Wi fe   1930's "    which starts September 28th from the Gnome Angel and friends.  I did them in Cherrywood fabrics. I not only have  been busy with the sewing but also been cleaning and re-organizing some things in the kitchen also. I am taking my bread maker ,slicer and bread mixes to my son in October. As I do not get much use . My son makes his own buns for hamburgers even and they are good! Got a few more boxes to take back to Illinois to my daughter also. Chatter with you later, Martha.
