A Little Further

Image
Well, I have gotten a little further on Mrs. Hartigan's Stash. I began marking off in yellow marker each row so I wouldn't lose my place. Especially since I don't think that there will be a second quilt o this pattern. I don't like diamonds done on the diagonal, because of bias. I am contemplating not cutting off edges and adding the stitching 1/8th away from edge to hopefully make it easier on the quilter. I'll be at it again today, so chatter later, Martha.

Stubborn and No Patience

Image
Yes that is me, stubborn and impatient! Approximately 7 years ago I started this quilt project.....  I have had the four large triangles with applique flowers finished in one month's time. Then decided i was not up to English paper piecing the rest o it. It came with a supply of paper pieces. I am trying to do some of my old projects and getting them out of my closet. I finally decided to do it by machine instead. So got myself some templates and ave began cutting out the pieces.... I have a long way to go, but the impatience  kicked in again. I  wanted something to inspire me to carry on, and to make sure it would work out. I pressed my four blocks and my ironed acted up on the second one I did.  I will have to soak this one to try and get out spit from iron. The other three were fine. My iron never did this before. Needs a soak While in my closet I found an embroidery block close to being done. I finished it last night, now I must fig

Attitude Adjustment

Image
I have been working on my "Attitude Adjustment" by Cathy Wierzbicki. It is a modified pattern from her "Nine Patch with Attitude" pattern ; which is in her book "Geometric Gems " book. "Attitude Adjustment" can be found in Fons and Porter's Scrap Quilt magazine Fall 2014. The finished pic from Fons & Porter.... Attitude Adjustment Nine Patch  with Attitude Now I have a series of photos to show my progression with my quilt, Attitude Adjustment..... It turned out to be a bit smaller than both of the other patterns because I ran out of my background fabric(tan fabric). So instead of being 81" x 81" mine is 66" x 81". Now all I have left is ironing and sewing together the back two pieces.  Thank you for stopping by, chatter later,Martha.

Pineapple Borders!

Image
I made quite a bit of  progress on my piano key borders yesterday. Finished them! A few pics to show you my progression of work.....                              Melon and grey borders are first up. First key border Second key border Third Border Last key border Two of my donations to the Camp Knutson Quilt auction were a little bit late to be turned in, but that just means they're early for next year! And that they can go into the Crow Wing  County Fair ! They both won blue ribbons and the Lori Holt "Autumn Love" That was hand applique won a reserve champion.... "My Mother's Tears"                         This one was a handkerchief quilt. So I am hoping that will help raise more money for charity. I guess we'll see. All for now, chatter later Martha.

Pineapples!

Image
Yes I have started a new project and it's Pineapples! I've made twenty blocks using a ruler by Doug Leko by Creative Grid. It is also good for making square in a square blocks also. I wanted to make these blocks for awhile now, but did not want to do paper piecing. So I thought I'd  try the ruler first and then try Bonnie Hunter's mock pineapple block using 2 1/2 " strips for another quilt and see which one I like best.  When I figure that out I'll then make a blue and cream one for myself. So without further adieu some pics...... Now I will add two borders and then a piano key border to hopefully make it lap size. Chatter later, Martha.
