Keeping Warm

Image
With the last of the fat quarter bundle that I made the "Lisa's Flowers" quilt with , I decided to use up and not just cut up! So I started a spool quilt..... Spool quilt Lisa's Flowers I finished February"s Guild mystery quilt blocks.                                   I have also worked on the mystery from Third Saturday group. We met this past Saturday and were given the clues from Brenda Peterson. I have finished only one of the flying geese bands. But one is better than none!  All for now, chatter later, keep warm, Martha.

Granddaughter's Last of Five

Image
The last of five quilts for my granddaughter's quilt ladder is a pattern by Edyta Sitar called "Sweet Blend".  I am making the stars with different greys and background will be a black eclectic print. About half the way there! I forgot to share a  picture of what I did with leftover blocks from my "Summer Wedding" quilt. I am hoping to hand quilt this and make it a donation quilt. Got this quilt back from quilter and have label put on and binding sewn down.                          Pic of my backing with top leftovers.  You can see my label in left hand corner of quilt.                                The last three flower blocks. I hope to bring this quilt top to quilter to also be basted for me to do some  hand quilting. It is only about 52" square, not that large....

Cold Weather Sewing

Image
I too like many of you have been doing some cold weather sewing. I hope to share this with many of you, today. First off, my "Summer Wedding " by Black Cat Creations! I love scrappy quilts , but this one I decided to make red and white. I finished making all my "H" blocks and started putting them all in rows.                     And last group of three rows, same as first!  Then putting  those rows together..... Then adding a border before ironing, finished except quilting and putting on the binding. Then I went digging and dug out a small project that when finished will be approximately 60" square and is between four or five years old. It is a wool project from Lisa Bongean called "Lisa's Garden". I had 16 blocks left to finish. I have eight more to finish as of today. So I thought I would include a pic of quilt as it is now.  I finished making a...

Six More To Go

Image
I only have six more rows to go. I have made the individual HST's made as you can see below. There are 108 of them. I used my triangulation's program and printed off the papers to make these. Now that they are cut apart , all I need to do is carefully tear off the papers.  So that's what I'll be occupied with this evening.  Martha.

Something Fishy

Image
During the fourth of July weekend there is a craft fair held in the local park. This is held every year. I usually just go and browse , not really looking for any thing special. This year there was something that really peeked my interest.... Fish Leather.  It is a real leather and must be treated as such. They make wallets ,bracelets and coin purses from it. These are a few pieces, though not very big , I thought I would use some in place of some woolin my "Lisa's Flower Garden" quilt. A small bag cost me $5.00. Not too bad. If you click on the pics it will enlarge them so that you can even see the scales.  But it feels just like any other leather. I have bought 2 different patterns by two different designers for the exact same bag.  The reason I did this was because they are both written terribly! Can hardly understand them. I thought maybe where one was lax perhaps the other would be clearer. No such luck. However when combined they both have some lovely ...

This weekend starts Minnesota's shop hop and I am sure I will be busy as many of you will be too! I thought I might show a few more pics.... Made a couple of placemats for meals on wheels. Also a mug rug I also have a small quilt called "Mississippi Crossing" from Little Gatherings by lisa Bongean .   Also a pillow to go with it.... I have also been working on my stitch therapy project "Lisa's Flower garden. I am getting closer to the half way point. I just got a few more blocks ready for stitching... Check in with you later, Martha.

Moving Slowly Along

Image
When the flu hits you it stops you in your tracks! I had the flu shot too! Enough complaining, I am trying to move along. I have been working on my " Little Gatherings" class projects. This is the small project from the book, basket blocks are 4 1/2" unfinished. I have still yet to stitch down the flowers and leaves. It is quilted and bound. I then preceded to figure out pieces for a 10 1/2" unfinished block. I thought I might make a pillow with this block. So I then went to work on a 8" unfinished (7 1/2"  finished) block. and made a total of four.  I shall continue to work on this table topper in the same format as the small one. Chatter more later, Martha.

Bonus Project

Image
I finished my bonus project for my "Little Gatherings" club. I will not be able to get it quilted before the meeting. Guess that will have to wait until afterwards. I still have two of the birds to whip stitch down. Just thought I would share.... This project comes to 60" square and can easily be made larger with extra borders. It can also be made longer with  an additional  row, to make it 3 X 4 rows.  And more of a twin size 72" long by 60" wide.  This is a two fabric quilt and can easily be made scrappy.  Chit chat later, Martha.

Applique Group and More

Image
Paula Murrey came to Colorz   Quilt Shop    and was working on her daughter.s mixer cover (shown above) . Anne Manly came and got a few questions answered and a few things out of the way. Dawn Leitsch was working on her Splendid Sampler's second block. Ellie Knolb brought a few projects to work on too! All in all we had a lovely time visiting and stitching!  I finished a small wall hanging of Fig Tree Quilts with her wool also.  I also got the second block of Buttermilk Basin's free BOM laid down and ready to be stitched! I will save this for stitching while watching the Walking Dead and Downton Abbey on Sunday. This is a small wall hanging from Little Gatherings book by Lisa Bongean with a saying from Mark Twain embroidered on it. I will check back later with you, Martha.
