Sunday's Travels

Image
I have today off and had a long to do list.  First off to the county fair grounds to deliver my one and only entry.... My "Sophie's Garden" quilt. Then I went to Country Fabrics quilt store to see my friend Connie Krueger's "Row by Row" quilt and of course to get and share a pic with you.... Then I went to my home store of Colorz Quilt Shop and took a few pics of some of the displays there for you to peruse.... This is called "14 On Point" . This is called "Vantastic".   We sold out of kits the first day, but we do have patterns still.  The placemats and tablerunner are from the Peiced Tree pattern "Checkered Past" . This is " Paul Bunyan" , He comes in a boxed kit. I have started working on a project with Denise, the store's new owner. It is called "The Raven" by Blackbird Designs.   Here is a pic from the book.... Now next on my list is laundry, vacuuming and grocer...

I Love It!

Today I picked up my quilt "Sophie's Garden".  I can in no way be more pleased with the way Laura Shogren quilted it ! She really worked her magic on it! It is fantastic! I , of course, still have to bind it, but here are a few snaps of the quilt.... She quilted window panes! Sophie the cat in the corner watching her garden. I have also been working on this candle mat Almost finished just doing a  blanket stitch around outside edges.  Chit chat with you later,Martha.

Applique Group

Image
Our applique group meets the third  friday of every month. We had a nice turn out yesterday. First a pic of the blocks that have been turned in..... Ladies you have until our January meeting to return your blocks. This quilt is for a charity quilt fundraiser. This picture does not do the fabrics justice. They are really beautiful! The weather was kind to us on the day of our meeting and even though "STAR WARS"     opened up in the theater's the night before we still had people show up!  Kathi Potter came... she was working on her Sue Spargo quilt blocks. Karen Martin and Ann Manly came.... Ann in the plaid, brought her knitting and Karen was working on her free  Buttermilk Basin  12 month wool project.  Sandy Baker also came and had a cute little minion pin cushion in her basket of goodies. Mary Amiot shared her "Birdie all Year Round " project from Bonnie Sullivan. She is marching right along with it (I haven't started mine....

It is a Finish!

I thought I would share how I finished my Sophie's Garden with you. I added a border and a wool applique kitty. I thought it looked like the kitty was looking out a doorway to her garden! Just my impressions.... Chatter with you later, Martha.

Got this one quilted by a friend who did it in double time. She was fast! Was able to get it mailed off to my sister, she is the Wizard of OZ fan. Got some pics of the quilting, the pattern she used was called Dandelion. Hope you can see it in the minkee.... I put a stain on my quilt  ladder called rosewood. I sanded in between each coat of polyurethane. Then waited for it to dry. Mr. Sew What  carried it in and helped me place it. Then I filled it up. I also have another block prepared and ready to stitch.... Tomorrow I'll be traveling to Duluth for the Minnesota Quilt Show. I will try to remember my camera and take a few pictures. Chit chat with you later, Martha.
