sew what's new?

     These are pics of my quilt top before the border was added. I used a purple  Kansas Troubles fabric for my border and for the binding that I will be needing. I also combined two stripe prints for the backing as this is a donation quilt for warmth and not for an exhibit. With the left over pieces from the quilt top I decided to make two small quilts for  a "Loving Arms" gift. Two of our Guild members organize gifts given to parents of stillborn babies and young babies for whatever reason have passed back to Heaven and to God our Father. Backing was the same on both quilts and instead of binding I used the backing as the binding. They were of the same colorway.  I also have been making masks and received a pic from my son of one I made in early October. I put spiders inside my daughter's checked masks. I have also started on some Christmas and winter masks. Working on about 40 masks right now.  I received my first fat quarter bundle of Linework by T...

I have been working with two charm packs of fabric making these.... I am only half way finished with making these. I need 160 more blocks.  After I finish this task, I take them to make these.....                                      I need 160 of these.  I only have one of these done and need 79 more. So it's slow going right now. I received my queen size quilt back from quilter. All done with binding made with same grey grunge  as backing.  Be still and be kind, Martha.

I have been looking for a pattern and a quilt top for over a week. At this point and time still have not found it. From all the searching,  I thought I should finish up some of the old projects and get them out of the way. It is hard not to start something new, when you feel that urge. So I decided I must finish one thing old,  before I can do some thing new. We'll see how long that lasts! I recently tried something new with foods and it was delicious! I highly recommend this. There are several others we may later try. It makes way too much for just me and hubby, so next time I will cut in half.   I finished this Pat Speth pattern of Jacob's Ladder block. I had started this in a class with her from our guild. This is using my scraps in five inch squares.  And yes I put it on top of the snow on my deck.  It is a small lap quilt. I have no excuses for not posting sooner , just laziness I guess.  I have taken a class from Pat Speth who has written about six books on nickel quilts, or charm squares. I have two of her books and made sure I got her to sign them for me. I thoroughly enjoyed her trunk show and class the next day. We worked on  mystery block together..... I will show you  picture of my Jacob's Ladder blocks when I get a few more made. I have also  finished my two blocks for the donation in the name of Maureen Busaker , who passed away from colon cancer. When all the blocks are done and put together the quilt will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. I love the look of this Carolina Lilly block. So pretty! I found this so soft flannel and bought two yards and cut on the fold. I then proceeded to pull threads and create the fringe on all sides. So I now have two soft winter scarves to use as gifts.
