Piddling Around

Image
Yes I am piddling around, Piddling , piddling, piddling!  When I am  doing hand applique  ,it always takes me so long to make decisions. So I will show you a pic of what is going on one corner of my "Amish Revolution" quilt.... I have most of it sewn down and just need to put on the electrical cord and plug.  I will do Overall Sam in the opposite corner. I have been sewing together all scraps from front for the back and added a little center piece which is my label also. Still have a few more to stitch together  to make it big enough.  We will chat some more when I make more progress, Martha

I got them put together today. setting triangles in place extra additional black border. 57" x 57" Outside border fabric Now  all I have left is the applique on the border. I am calling this quilt " Amish Revolution". I am going to piece the back also with a little surprise that I will share later. Will chit chat  later,Martha.

Sunday Sewing

Image
Got a little Sunday sewing done today.  The blocks I showed last time with their nine sisters in tow are joined together and have their borders on. Tomorrow I will layer and bind it. Also I will go and get our last buck block to do. I have figured out I need to do one extra for the setting I have chosen. So I need to buy one extra.  Talk more tomorrow,Martha.

One For Halloween!

Image
Well I can chalk up one runner for Halloween , done and done. It is quilted and bound. See pic below.... The mottled looking black backround has spiderwebs  printed on it.  Next one will have purple circles of spiders in backround circles for the birds.  Love it! I have started another of Pam Buda's small quilts. I used  Triangles on a roll to make the small half square triangles. It makes the process so much more accurate especially when dealing with small pieces.  Once you have sewn on dotted line you cut apart on solid lines. Then you can use Eleanor Burns ' half square triangle ruler to trim up your block to correct size before ironing the seam open. Then all that is left is to trim the dog ears.  Here is a pic of three blocks that I have finished. Time to make dinner now , so I will cut our visit short and chat with you later, Martha.

Time Does Not Stand Still

Image
It is already the middle of August and I have not started Christmas projects yet!  But I have started Halloween. The pic below is found in the book by Disa Designs , "More of My Runners". I still must layer quilt and bind. I really like crows and ravens a lot! I have another Buck block done and this is number eleven. I think I can start putting it together now. I have collected my fabrics and decided how to border it. I have been making half square triangles with triangles on a roll. That way I do not have to mark fabric and can still make eight at a time with two charm squares. I am trying to catch up to block four on Pam Buda's sew a long.  Hope the shop hop going on for those in Minnesota, has been a learning experience and a whole lot of fun! Chit chat later, Martha.

We enjoyed them every minute they were here.  The beds are all stripped and made again until next time.  While I taught "Prairie Women's Sewing Circle" Journey II I, my husband took them to the Mall of America and saw the Sea Life exhibit. It was Shark Week , so we all had fun!   I have pics of the show and tell at our Journey III meeting to tease you with. Sharon's Light in the Window by Pam Buda Sharon's  quilt also from Journey III Karen with her summer block of the week,   faithful words block  from Primitive Gatherings. Sharon Jacobson and her quilt blocks from Craftsy!    Paula Murray showed us Dear Jane  blocks that she designed and hand appliqued.      Connie Kruieger showed us one of her wonky Star quilts.
