Two Last Finishes for 2013 !

Image
Yes  I have two last finishes to show you for 2013.  The first is a project that was given to me by my friend Mary Ann the last time I went home to visit. She said she would like it back by March. I got it in the mail today ,so she should have it by the end of the week. Hope she enjoys her candle mat.  Next I finished a small quilt called "The Freedom Quilt" and the pattern is by Pam Buda.  It will be the first of several quilts by her.  The quilt comes in two sizes and mine is the smaller version coming in at 43" x 43".  Have a happy and safe New Year  and come back and chit chat with me next year! Martha

Wishing All a Merry Christmas!

Image
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and would like to thank you for visiting this blog and sharing your time with me.   I have been doing a little more sewing . It is a panel in the center. So cute and wintery! I like snowmen.  With each round of the border being put on  cuteness ratio moves up.  See for your self.... It would make a nice lap quilt , wall hanging , or a child's quilt! Enjoy your loved ones and chatter later, Martha.

This and That

I have been doing a little of this and that. Finishing up the Christmas shopping and getting it in the Post in time for Christmas day opening. I can now check that off my list. I finished the stitching on the quilt in the top of my blog header and took it to the quilter here in town.   Made little mittens to hang on the tree. I started to make them to hold the gift cards that I was giving them. I made this apron for my son as he does all the cooking. Lined it so that it is reversible.  His daughter is taking home economics this year and is enjoying it. I gave her some cookie dough so that she can bake her own cookies for Christmas.  These are the potholders that come on the same panel.   This Sunday I am cooking my first prime rib roast. My son gave me a few  hints last night,so I think I am good on that. I did not realise that it would be an all day process.  Hope all will be safe and surrounded by those you love this holiday...

Playing Hookey?

Image
I have not exactly been playing hookey just busy sewing and shopping and Christmas is almost upon us!  I forgot to tell you the "Mosiac Tiles " quilt was made out of Basic Grey by Moda.  I finished it! This was a large twin size quilt. I also finished an adorable 30's child's quilt Made from Sandy Klop's (American Jane) School Days fabric. This is sooo cute! So glad  you could stop by Visit with you later.

New Project

Image
I'm back with a few pics of new project that I promised you!   These are the first three rows  of Mosiac Tiles " pattern by Heather Mulder Peterson. The sides of each tile is appliqued on with clear monofiliment thread with a  blind hem stitch that was modified smaller. These are the only places where points have to meet. I need to show you what it has been doing outside the past two days.... We have cleaned off the driveway three times. And the deck twice! Guess we will have a white Christmas!

Small Finish

Image
I received my hexagon  one block wonder or kaleidoscope quilt back  from the quilter and she did a wonderful job!   So I have a few pics of it finished to share with you.   She used a grey thread on the grey backround and an orange thread in the orange. The orange had one quilting pattern and the grey had another. As you can probably tell I decided to leave zig zag border and not even it out. I used the same grey from the backround on the binding. Hope you can see the different threads and patterns used from this last picture! You can always click on pic and make bigger. Yes I have started something new but will have to share that later, Martha.
