What I Have Been Working On

Image
I have been busy  making examples of ways to use wool patterns. To help show their versatility. I used a dinner plate to draw around and cut a base for some wool leaves that I distributed around in a pleasing manner. Once whip stitched down, I cut 1/4" away from leaves and traced shape onto a piece for the base.  I then blanket stitched them together for a cute candle mat. I have also made a couple of dish towels using two different methods also.  One I did in raw edge applique using another part of the pattern. On the other dish towel I did  the other with needle turn applique with another part of the wool pattern. I then decided to show the pattern  using it as an embroidery pattern on a pillow.... All of the above were inspired by this pattern. I have my first meeting of  "Little Gatherings"   this Tuesday.  Remember when you get a wool pattern there are lots of things that can be done with it! Chatter w...

I Love It!

Today I picked up my quilt "Sophie's Garden".  I can in no way be more pleased with the way Laura Shogren quilted it ! She really worked her magic on it! It is fantastic! I , of course, still have to bind it, but here are a few snaps of the quilt.... She quilted window panes! Sophie the cat in the corner watching her garden. I have also been working on this candle mat Almost finished just doing a  blanket stitch around outside edges.  Chit chat with you later,Martha.

Wool Wall Hanging

Image
I have just completed a wool wall hanging. It is of my own design. It has autumnal colors , because that is my favorite time of the year! It is 29" square. I also did some hand quilting on it. I enjoyed that and the practise is good. Someday I will get enough courage to hand quilt a lap size. A little closer look at the quilting. I did use bias binding because I rounded the corners.  Tomorrow  is the meeting with the Applique Group at Colorz.  I will be bringing the charity quilt to share also! Chatter later, Martha.

Moving Forward

I receive the blocks for Colorz Applique Group and got them put together. I put the additional borders on and have it ready to show the group on the 15th. The binding is the same fabric as the small inner border. I am also trying to keep up with Thimblecreek Gazette's new mystery quilt. It is Civil War themed. The first clue are these four blocks.... Working on some half square triangles at the moment. Project will also have a little wool on it too! Will have to show you you more when I am further along. Chatter with you later, Martha.

Ushering Out 2015 ....

Image
I had one quilt that has been quilted and has been waiting to be bound for almost two years. I even had the binding already made. Well so that I can finish up the old year on a good note I finally put on the binding and hanging  sleeve.  I even put a label on the back! I now have it hanging up in my hallway. It is a stack 'n whack quilt made from only 2 fabrics.  I also  am working on another old project of  English paper pieced hexagons.  A border was half way around and I have finished that.... Deb Tucker's wing clipper ruler Made some baby elephant blocks and still have to make the parents. That will be the next round. I am hoping to finish this top in the next week. Chit chat later, Martha.
