Working On

Image
I have another block for "Sophie's Garden" prepped and started..... I started a new pieced quilt called "Sassy" by Quilting on the Curve.  This designer lives not to far from me and she lives on a curve!  She has visited our guild in the past couple of months. Here is my first block of the nine needed for the quilt. The block itself is a large one about 21 1/2 " square.  But I love the colors! They are all Kaffe Fasset fabrics. I have also been doing a project in the garage with my husband. All I helped with was standing and holding things so they would not move. Wiped off glue with a wet rag( his fingers and some wood pieces). Gave some advice (not always taken).  Provided companionship thru the process.  This is to hold quilts and stand about 5'9" tall and will come out about !5" from the wall you put it against. I don't have one of those nice antique ladders to display quilts on, but this should do. It

OZ

Image
Last time I showed a couple of blocks of my "Wizard of Oz" quilt. It is going to be a gift quilt, but I was not liking it!  Then I came to terms that I did not have to like it!  But it was a quick quilt to go together. First pic is with the final borders not on yet. This next pic is with the borders on. I like the quilt top much better with the borders. It has a blue gingham border all around ,except the poppies are only one the one side. I have almost finished another block from my "Sophie's Garden" quilt..... Just need to stitch around the flowers. I also got the binding sewn down on my taupe embroidery quilt which Rebecca Annakkala quilted for me. Linking up with  juliekquilts.blogspot.com/2015/05/binding-blitz-and-some-other-things.html All for now must cook supperand do a few errands, chatter later,Martha.

Binding

I am going to link up with Slow Stitching Sunday for this post. I have a pile of quilts that have been quilted for about a year. Today while I am watching Game of Thrones ,I thought I might get rid of at least one.   It is about 70" square and all taupes. There are 9 blocks of embroidery on it also.  Here are some pics.... I used a varigated embroidery thread. My lilac bush smells so lovely every time I go outside to take pics.  Really more of a tree, that my neighbor and I share. I have also started another lap size quilt useing Wizard of OZ fabrics. Only a couple of blocks finished. Chatter later, Martha.

Well I decided to take off the flowers that were on my  "Sophie's Garden" block and redo them. So here is a pic of it finished... They still need thier eyes put in! I prepared the next one to do at night during tv time.... And I started a mini quilt of "Science Fair" by Jaybird Quilts. Two rows sewn together.... This is made useing Row by Row charm squares!  The Row by Row Experience starts June 21st. Six rows ( This is half of the rows.) put together.  I finished the mini but forgot to take a pic, just rushed it back to Colorz. Now I will have to wait and give you a pic later on. Chit chat later, Martha.  I am linking up with confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com and crazymomquilts.blogspot.com .

Tula Pink

The cathedral windows pattern was one she did not write up to  sell. This large motif of Elizabeth was one she had especially made for herself, not available for sale as yardage. Union Jack  pattern was a free one she found on the web or internet. These next four  pics are of her new backings. Very nice and funny young woman!   I went to my Stitch Therapy group yesterday and took a picture of Karen Martin's "Sophie's Garden" quilt she now has put together. All for now, purse class tomorrow. Must gather supplies and be ready, chatter later, Martha.

Something New

Image
I have started something new, with a little handwork involved. I finished my "Wooly Critters" and took it to quilter. I do not expect it back until August. Again with so much going on here (two big quilt shows and county fairs) lucky to get it then! Pic of partial done. I am in Moosebay Muses(a.k.a., Karen Martin's) Stitch  Therapy group. We are doing Pam Curo's "Sophie's Garden" I have been following Karen's special tips and got myself a notebook with sleeves as to store directions and block pieces. I have finished my log cabin blocks,my sawtooth star blocks and my spool blocks. I have also finished my 52 half square triangles. I have one block with applique on it started. It has both wool and cotton velvet on it. Have not decided whether or not I like the cotton velvet or not. I may end up taking it off. I like the feel , not so much the look..... There will be more chatter on this later, marth
