A Wicked Surpise!

Image
I finished my alphabet quilt top and now just need to get it quilted. I have also finished this crib quilt top and am ready to baste it for hand quilting. And now for the wicked surprise!  I have a few pics of some of the display quilts Cherrywood has in Colorz Quilt store . If you want to see them all they will be on display until December 19th, so stop by and see them for yourself. This only a taste ,believe me ,there is so much more! Chit chat later, Martha.

A Little Bit of Everything

Image
I have been quilting my class project from Victoria Findley Wolfe's  and now have the binding put on the front .  I  will be sewing it down tonight.  I decided to try and hand quilt it. If I want to get good at this skill, I must practise. Binding almost there! Hand quilting. My elephant. I started to do a flannel quilt for my bed but have changed my mind for several reasons. Let me show you a block.... These are six inch blocks with three layers each. So when sewing a seam you are sewing thru 6 layers of flannel!  I have sewn together four of them and pressed all seams open. The four patch is heavy, so I cannot even imagine putting batting and backing. The  top blocks are stiff already ,so putting very much quilting will not happen. So no queen size quilt from this pattern for me! I have another crib size quilt on table. I am making it from one charm pack and 1 1/4 yard of background fabric. The pattern is called "Lollipop Tw...

Alphabet and Victoria's Class Finish

Image
Here is my alphabet quilt as it stands. This is the letter V and the start of a new row and the last row! This is the end result of the class taken with Victoria Findley Wolfe.  All I need to do now is quilt it! It is only 36" by 37" big.  I appliqued a baby elephant on it. We had our second applique group meeting, which was a lot of fun.  We are going to meet again  December 19th.  Chatter later, Martha.

Decisions

Image
I have a decision to make and it is a hard one for me.  I got back my "Night Sky " quilt and have to decide to add my three bats to the front and call it "Like A Bat Outta Hell". I already have it bound, just need to put a label on it. I was hopeing to use it for my Halloween quilt.  However I do really like it just as it is. What do you think?  The next two pics are of a crib size blue and brown quilt.  It will go with the last pink crib quilt to the quilters.  I have been planning to make about six crib quilts to leave in a Hope chest for grandkids when they decide to have kids.  A legacy of sorts. Well all for now, chatter later, Martha.

Bumble Beans Gives a Class!

Image
Our guild had invited Victoria Findley Wolfe to speak at our meeting and the next day she followed with a class on improv sewing. Attendees had a great time! She was talking about blowing up the melon shape of a Double Wedding Ring  . This is her version of Double Wedding Ring (DWR). Thought I would share some in process class photos. These pics are some more of Bumble Beans quilts... This is a pic of my start of a baby quilt... Chatter later Martha.
