Habitat for Humanity

Image
This is my contribution to Habitat for Humanity this year. A very good friend has also donated her time and energy to quilt it . Thank you Connie! I will then get it bound and donated. The new year will bring some changes for hubby, as he will under go some very serious  surgery. For an  abdominal aortic aneurysm. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. Martha

No Excuses

Image
I have no excuses for not posting sooner , just laziness I guess.  I have taken a class from Pat Speth who has written about six books on nickel quilts, or charm squares. I have two of her books and made sure I got her to sign them for me. I thoroughly enjoyed her trunk show and class the next day. We worked on  mystery block together..... I will show you  picture of my Jacob's Ladder blocks when I get a few more made. I have also  finished my two blocks for the donation in the name of Maureen Busaker , who passed away from colon cancer. When all the blocks are done and put together the quilt will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. I love the look of this Carolina Lilly block. So pretty! I found this so soft flannel and bought two yards and cut on the fold. I then proceeded to pull threads and create the fringe on all sides. So I now have two soft winter scarves to use as gifts. I have also made these three canvas gift bags...

Moving On....

I started out just piecing the center house block. I then proceeded to attach the applique pieces to the house. Took it outside since it was sunny which lately is a rarity. We still have our small pond out back. I also got a few blocks of my cream and red queen size quilt finished. Only 41 more to go! chatter later....

A Little Behind

Image
Yes I am a little behind in my Lori Holt quilt "Autumn Love". But not to far as to lose sight of the finish! Here is my milk can block all finished and cut to size. It has been so dark and dull the past few weeks that I don't even bother trying to take a picture outside anymore. I have the next two blocks glued down and buttons picked out. The maple leaf block.... And the sunflower block..... I have also finished four more blocks for my red and cream quilt. Now I only need 44 more! All for now  chatter later, Martha.

Thought I would share the wall hanging I donated to the Mustard  Seed in Deerwood, MN.   It is my color wash  with a wool cross and crown in the center. I have also finished my blocks for Third Saturday Sewing Group. When put together they are to large for one picture , so I folded in half and took two pictures.                                                      This is one block. Next my two pics......   We already have snow on the ground!  The next six months are going to be cold! Chatter later, Martha.

Halloween Ahead

Image
Halloween is dead ahead of us. I have one project I would like to get finished. I bought some fat quarters of Tula Pink's line Del la Luna. As with my Jen Kingwell fabric, I like to use one of Jen's patterns. So as with Tula , I like to use one of her patterns. I found one in her latest book with Angela Walters. It is called "Sugar Skulls"!                             Rows here are not sewn together.                                Borders are on in this picture.                                This is the  pieced backing. I also have my milk can block glued down and am working on stitching it down. Chatter later, Martha.

Left Side Of Quilt

Now to start the milk can block!

Two More

Image
I have two more blocks glued down so that I can applique down. In the the pictures I only have the buttons glued in position not sewn down yet. Acorn foliage Fall Foliage I used brown leaf stems instead of  the  green she said. I also used blue buttons instead of the green she said.  Doing my own thing there.  Chatter later, Martha.

An So On

Image
My scarecrow block is finished! I have some stars sewn on the Autumn block! Usually my back yard is flooded and water is up to the log my hubby has placed for the ducks to sit on. Even though it has been raining every day this week! I have a woodpecker at my feeder just now, hope you can make him out.... Weathermen have told us to look for snow the end of this week. Chatter later, Martha.
