IT LOOKS LIKE WINTER !

LOOKING OUT MY SEWING ROOM WINDOW THERE IS SNOW!

REMEMBER THE BACK OF THIS QUILT THAT I COULD NOT SHOW YOU BEFORE?  NOW I CAN ,  IT IS ON ITS WAY TO ITS NEW OWNERS.  A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A HUSBAND WHO JUST LOVES THE GRINCH AND I SOME TIMES THINK HE BELIEVES THAT HE IS ONE ALSO. SOOOO,

I HAD MADE HER A QUILT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND DECIDED IT WAS HIS TURN.

I HAVE NOW MOVED ON TO TABLE TOPPERS AND CANDLE MATS.
I HAVE SEVERAL OF ONE KIND TO MAKE  AND DO NOT WISH TO GO OUT IN THE COLD TODAY.  SO ONE OF THEM WILL BE SATIN STITCH AND  THE REST WILL JUST HAVE A SMALL ZIG ZAG AROUND THE EDGE , BECAUSE I AM LOW ON TEAL THREAD.

SOME JUST HAVE DIFFERENT BACKROUNDS.

YOU WILL NEED SOME EMBROIDERY THREAD (COOTON OR RAYON OR SILK)  A NEW SHARP NEEDLE, SOME TEAR A WAY STABILIZER.

I USED A ZIG ZAG STITCH AND MODIFIED IT TO THE SETTINGS SHOWN ,2.0 WIDE AND .5 LONG .  USE WHAT YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR MACHINE.

WITH A BERNINA YOU SHOULD PUT COTTON  BOBBIN THREAD THRU HOLE IN BOBBIN CASE ARM.   THE ADJUSTS THE TENSION AND PULLS THE TOP THREAD TO THE  BOTTOM.  ON OTHER MACHINES (LIKE A PFAFF)  YOU WOULD CHANGE TENSION WHEEL FROM THE DOT BETWEEN THE 4 AND 5 ; DOWN TO THE BUTTON HOLE #3 ON THE WHEEL. YOU WILL KNOW BEST WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.  THE TEAR A WAY  STABILIZER HELPS TO MAKE SURE THERE IS LITTLE OR NO RIPPLES IN YOUR FABRIC  WHEN YOU SATIN STITCH .

ALWAYS TEST YOUR SETTING BEFORE DOING IT ON YOUR ACTUAL PIECE.

STOP ON AN OUTSIDE CORNER WITH YOUR NEEDLE DOWN AND TO THE RIGHT OF THE OBJECT YOU ARE GOING AROUND.

WITH NEEDLE DOWN YOU CAN TURN THE CORNER ;  WITH YOUR NEEDLE ONE STITCH OFF AND ONE STITCH ON APPLIQUE.

WITH AN INSIDE CORNER ALWAYS STOP IN NEEDLE DOWN POSITION WITH YOUR NEEDLE IN THE LEFT POSITION AND IN THE APPLIQUE ITSELF.

HOPEFULLY IN NO TIME YOU WILL HAVE IT ALL APPLIQUED DOWN IN SATIN STITCH.  THEN YOU PUT PULL OFF THE TEAR AWAY STABILIZER  AND CLIP YOUR THREADS AND PRESS. YOU CAN THEN LAYER AND QUILT AND BIND  YOUR CANDLE MAT.

ALL FOR NOW MARTHA
NEEDLE AND THREAD FEED MY SOUL
