WOOL APPLIQUE

I USE FREEZER PAPER TO TRACE IMAGES THAT I WISH TO CUT FROM WOOL AND THEN I IRON THE SHINY WAXY SIDE TO THE WOOL.  ONCE IT IS ATTACHED I CAN THEN CUT IT OUT. THESE SHAPES MAY BE USED MORE THAN ONCE.

A GOOD WAY TO CUT OUT THE LEAF IS TO CUT THE BIGGER PART OUT FIRST AND THEN TRACE THE SMALLER PART INSIDE  BUT LEAVING THE WAX PAPER TO THE SIZE OF THE LEAF .THEN IRON THE BIGGER PIECE TO THE RIGHT COLOR AND THEN CUT OUT THE VIENS FOR THE LEAF.  IT JUST GIVES YOU MORE TO HOLD ONTO WHEN CUTTING OUT.
I THEN ARRANGE THEM IN A PLEASING FASHION , ONCE THEY ARE CUT OUT.  I USE ROXANNE'S BASTE IT GLUE  TO KEEP THE PIECES IN PLACE. ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS A SMALL DOT IN SEVERAL PLACES  TO HOLD IT TOGETHER IN POSTION. DO NOT PUT IT IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA WHERE YOUR NEEDLE (HAND OR MACHINE) WILL BE GOING INTO.  THE GLUE DRIES RATHER QUICKLY.

I SEW MINE DOWN WITH MY SEWING MACHINE.  MANY PREFER TO DO THIS BY HAND.  I USE STITCH # 51  ON MY BERNINA 430.   I USE LENGTH AND WIDE AS SEEN ABOVE. USE A BUTTONHOLE OR BLANKET STITCH AND ADJUST IT TO YOUR LIKING.  I ALSO USE THREAD TO MATCH OR BLEND IN WITH THE APPLIQUE.

THE NEEDLE SHOULD SWING FROM JUST OUTSIDE OF THE APPLIQUE TO JUST INSIDE OF IT

I ALSO USE MY MAGNIFIER TO HELP ME KEEP ON THE CORRECT PATH .  I HAVE SEEN A GENERIC BRAND OF THE MAGNIFIER AT WAL-MART SEWING DEPT. ALSO.   BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU WILL BE DONE!
