A Small Interuption

Image
I've had a small interuption to my sewing from the 2 1/2" box. Nothing major, needed a new iron that would produce a lot of steam! Better Homes and Garden highly recommended a CHI iron with 1700 watts and a titanium ceramic plate. Price was reasonable, so i succumbed.  I have had two Oliso irons and have been dissappointed in them both.  Rowenta is fine, I've had one of those, just thought I'd try something different. So far so good! Lots of steam with a lot of holes on plate. Not real heavy either! I've made all the block parts for my scrap quilt. With 24 of each piece made, I'm ready to start tommorrow putting it together.                 These are the first two rows sewn together. There was also a slight pause in my quilt sewing, because of a little squirrel sewing. Some placemats got into my way and I got a bit nutty about them. Couldn't stop at one but managed to get out four. On the plus side, I did use up some o

New Quilt Started

Image
I have started a new quilt with my bin of 2 1/2" strips and combined them with two background fabrics for a checkerboard interest. It's a take off of a rail fence pattern. Mostly greys and neutrals in the rail fence part. Kind of a bland rail fence really.  This will be quilt # 8 from the bin. Quilt # 7 is pressed with backing in a bag waiting to be exchanged when quilt # 6 is finished from quilter. So you need some reminder pictures of quilt #7.... And now some pictures of quilt#6 back from quilter and bound with label on.... This was the quilt with backing from Marcia Derse and new millenium  (2000)  fabric from Jenny Beyer! Quilt # 5 is the quilt now in the hands of my quilter Karl Muller.... Top made with some of Marcia Derse leftovers! I hope you enjoyed the breakdown of my scrap quilting, chatter with you later, Martha.

Quilt of Gratitude

Image
I sent my Uncle Junior's "Quilt of Gratitude" on it's way to him. It should arrive on Monday.   I have also finished another top. This one has a five patch matched with a snowball block. I have a scrappy black binding ready also.   I also made some more masks from a different pattern. This pattern is the fastest one I've tried.  Next one I am going to try the one is Bonnie Hunter's  with T-shirt ties.                           I used soft baby elastic in these.  Be kind to one another, Martha.

Working Away

Image
I finished the binding and did the quilting on my home sewing machine. This quilt is still from my 2 1/2" bin, however I did cut the strips  down to 2" to make the four patches. I also picked out 3 1/2" squares from my box of those. So I am still getting rid of remenants! I have flannel on the back with a label and it is approximately 65" square. I have also started another quilt from the 2 1/2" strip bin. With it I decided to include the leftovers from the backing of the last quilt top finished. The green mottled Marcia Derse fabric will be in the snowball block , of the alternate block. Stay healthy and wear a mask when you do go out! Try to stay home and be kind to one another. We now have six in our county with the virus, ages between 20 and 80. One happens to be a health care worker.  Pray for one another, Martha.

Another Quilt Top Done

Image
I have another quilt top done from that never ending 2 1/2" strip bin.  I took several pics o it , both inside and out. I used some fabric of Jennie Beyer's Millenium  series. So it is 20 years old but pretty, with pinks greens and light blues. I needed to add some Marcia Derse olive green to the sides to make it wide enough. I have been scheduled for a second CardioInversion next Monday morning. Prayers are gladly accepted. Chatter later, Martha. Please remember to be kind and patient, above all else!
