sew what's new?

I have been looking for a pattern and a quilt top for over a week. At this point and time still have not found it. From all the searching,  I thought I should finish up some of the old projects and get them out of the way. It is hard not to start something new, when you feel that urge. So I decided I must finish one thing old,  before I can do some thing new. We'll see how long that lasts! I recently tried something new with foods and it was delicious! I highly recommend this. There are several others we may later try. It makes way too much for just me and hubby, so next time I will cut in half.   I finished this Pat Speth pattern of Jacob's Ladder block. I had started this in a class with her from our guild. This is using my scraps in five inch squares.  And yes I put it on top of the snow on my deck.  It is a small lap quilt. Sorry I have been a bit preoccupied with other things. For those of you who have been inquisitive, my  husband came thru his surgery just fine . He is on the mend! Praise God for that! I have been working on my grey quilts for my granddaughter and have progressed quite nicely I think.  60" x 60" This is a nice scrappy quilt that used 2 charm packs of a Jen Kingwell fabric line and 10 fat quarters of grey fabric. I used remaining grey fabric on the backing. I have taken it to the quilter's a few weeks ago. It went together quite quickly. I got back my quilt project from Connie for the Habitat for Humanity. And asked Connie to give it at last guild meeting ,after I had bound it and put a label on it. I then proceeded on to work on my grey quilts. I have been doing  few small quilts for my grandson's wife. Do I call her my granddaughter?  She wants mainly grey quilts , so I have been doing a lot of scrappy. She got herself a quilt ladder at a antique fair last summer. I am helping her fill it up. I made 175 of these nine patches which measured 2 3/4" each. I proceeded to make a small 45" square quilt.                                        I like this one a lot! This one is a bit larger, 68" x 68". The pattern is called "Gertie". I will be making one of these for myself later. I have a retreat later in January and will be working on another for her. Now I must work on cutting out the pieces. Chatter later, Martha.

This is my contribution to Habitat for Humanity this year. A very good friend has also donated her time and energy to quilt it . Thank you Connie! I will then get it bound and donated. The new year will bring some changes for hubby, as he will under go some very serious  surgery. For an  abdominal aortic aneurysm. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. Martha

I have no excuses for not posting sooner , just laziness I guess.  I have taken a class from Pat Speth who has written about six books on nickel quilts, or charm squares. I have two of her books and made sure I got her to sign them for me. I thoroughly enjoyed her trunk show and class the next day. We worked on  mystery block together..... I will show you  picture of my Jacob's Ladder blocks when I get a few more made. I have also  finished my two blocks for the donation in the name of Maureen Busaker , who passed away from colon cancer. When all the blocks are done and put together the quilt will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. I love the look of this Carolina Lilly block. So pretty! I found this so soft flannel and bought two yards and cut on the fold. I then proceeded to pull threads and create the fringe on all sides. So I now have two soft winter scarves to use as gifts. I have also made these three canvas gift bags...

I started out just piecing the center house block. I then proceeded to attach the applique pieces to the house. Took it outside since it was sunny which lately is a rarity. We still have our small pond out back. I also got a few blocks of my cream and red queen size quilt finished. Only 41 more to go! chatter later....

Yes I am a little behind in my Lori Holt quilt "Autumn Love". But not to far as to lose sight of the finish! Here is my milk can block all finished and cut to size. It has been so dark and dull the past few weeks that I don't even bother trying to take a picture outside anymore. I have the next two blocks glued down and buttons picked out. The maple leaf block.... And the sunflower block..... I have also finished four more blocks for my red and cream quilt. Now I only need 44 more! All for now  chatter later, Martha.
